Outstanding to find this on tap at Whole Foods in Devon. Pours very dark brown with just a little head. Smell is very sweet. This is the first beer that I've ever had that made me nostalgic for something in my childhood reminding me of the cafeteria's chocolate milk with just a little bit of carbonation added on (my parents used to pour a little bit of soda into plain milk to get me do drink it). No bitterness at all like some other chocolate stouts.

A-dark brown color with a light tan head and good lacing

S-chocolate, roasted malt, hints of coffee

T-sweet chocolate, roasted malt, light coffee, hints of vanilla, slight bitter finish

F-medium body with moderate carbonation, smooth and slightly creamy

O-nice chocolate flavor and smooth, but lacks a little depth of typical stout flavor

Served in a pint.

A - Deep chocolate brown hue with a one-finger tan head. Good retention and lacing.

S - Sweet milk chocolate, vanilla, mild roasted malts and a touch of coffee.

T - Lots of sweetness here. I tend to shy away from milk stouts due to this characteristic. Roasted malts and cherry in the finish.

M - Thin medium body, on the silky side. Moderate carbonation kept it from being poor.

O - I cannot help but get a taste similar to coconut from the combination of sweet flavors found in milk stouts. And I do not like coconut. This is a fair showing, but I would be content never having it again.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter at fridge-cellar temperature.

L – Black color with a 1.5-finger creamy, rocky brown head. Nice retention and some nice patchy lacing.

S – Chocolate malt, lactose, and a little bit of roasted malt, but that’s about all I get.

T – Starts off sweet with a flavor that tastes just like chocolate milk and gradually shifts to subtly bitter roasted malt. Cocoa sweetness reappears after the small amount of bitterness fades.

F – Medium-to-full-bodied with good carbonation, a creamy and smooth mouthfeel, and a sweet finish. Sweet chocolate milk lingers nicely.

O – This is a pretty good milk stout. It is definitely sweet and certainly lives up to the label of a “chocolate milk” stout. Worth a try, but if I’m reaching for a stout, I’m much more fond of their Wake-n-Bake.

Well there is a lot to say about this beer. This is obviously a stout but for me there should be a sub class called dessert beers. So I'll judge this stout in the dessert stout beer category.

This pours a thick black with minimal head which a guess seem pretty standard for non nitro stouts. The smell is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. It's a pretty sweet smell that of course smells like a dessert.

The taste is a very creamy chocolate cake. Excellent for an after meal closer when everyone is ordering dessert but you want to keep drinking. Perhaps in context of eating out and looking for a post dinner closer, it may be the best. It's silky smooth, a little thick and tons of chocolate taste.

I would never crack this beer as a starter or for that matter anytime other than an end of night closer. But compared to other chocolate stouts, this is top notch. Not too sweet and not too bitter. The only knock on it is that its a complete nitche beer. Not sure if I would every want this other than a closer. But for what it is , it's a great beer from perhaps the most underrated brewery out there.

Nice chocolately stout...I love chocolate stouts, and this is a very easy drinking, smooth example of this to me. I like a lot of the heavier examples, but this is something light enough to drink a couple of on a weekly basis. Not too heavy, not real high alcohol, very drinkable.
