Seasonal: 2011 printed on label. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours a very dark brown color, nearing black. The beer is nearly opaque aside from some reddish hues at the edges of the glass. A decent sized tan head develops but doesn't stick around. Foam collects in a ring around the glass and leaves nice wisps of lacing.

The nose isn't overly strong but it isn't lacking either. That seems to be exactly how the nose sets up. Some milk chocolate is definitely a big part of the nose but it is neither overpowering nor subtle. There is a slight sweetness that is kept from being more pronounced by some light roast.

The chocolate really asserts itself in the taste. Nice dark and milk chocolate combine with a mild sugary sweetness to provide the biggest component of each sip. There is a milk-like creaminess that comes before a bit of roast in the finish.

Medium bodied with low carbonation. The low carbonation allows the beer to feel fuller in the mouth even though the body isn't huge. Very creamy and smooth.

This is a very good take on the style. The chocolate adds to the beer without completely taking over and turning it into something else. Very nice.

Poured into a pint glass. Black color with a half finger of dark-tan head.

Bold burnt malt smell with lighter notes of chocolate. Straight forward and nice.

Tastes exactly like a Chocolate Milk Stout should. Big burnt, charred malt flavor first, gives way to a quick bitter bite, then it's all chocolate. Fun and tasty.

Medium body, almost creamy. Low carbonation.

Great taste, average looking and smelling though.

12 ounce bottle
Poured into a tulip pint glass

A: Extremely dark brown on the pour, black like a stout in the glass. Creamy, bubbbly and frothy tan head sits atop filling the entire glass. Only a small retention ring of little bubbles remains, along with some sporadic moderate lacing.

S: Gritty sweet dark chocolate, milk, cream, lactose, sugar and chocolate malt. Nothing overtly sweet but enough to remind you what you're drinking. And no, it doesn't smell exactly like chocolate milk, sorry.

T: Milk and dark chocolates followed by a slightly roasted dark malt flavor. The creamy elements come through mid-palate with some buttercream and milk. The finish has a slight bitter note trailing off.

M: Nicely carbonated and extremely creamy. At first it starts off feeling a bit thin but opens up into a very silky, creamy texture.

Another winner from Terrapin. This beer accomplishes what it set out to be, taking a Milk Stout and adding a healthy dose of chocolate to it. It's balanced nicely, not overly sweet although my only comment would be to make the chocolate taste less artificial.

12 oz. Bottle poured into tulip glass

This beer has a great label with the terrapin in the silly cow suit but he is all dressed to take you on a malty chocolate Ride!

Pours a huge foamy almost frothy head like steamed milk. Body is dark and opaque. Real bigtime chocolate aroma with sweetness in the nose a touch of toffee too. Taste and feel are so smooth and rich wave after wave of lactose infused chocolate and roasted malts you dont want it to end. At the end of the beer a nice coffee flavor develops. One of my favorites cant get enough of it. Nearly perfectly executed

S. Smells nice but mild. Coffee and chocolate.
A. dark brown, very dark. Didn't pour much head.
T. Pretty nice. I get more chocolate than coffee....unlike some of the other reviews.
M. A little more carbonated than I expected. Medium body.
O. I like it. Don't love it. Would recommend for those who like chocolate stouts. Not a big beer abv wise.

@ Woody's

Black with a little, creamy off-white head that sticks around for awhile. Very mellow, pleasant, and all around drinkable on draught. Real chocolate aroma with a mild sweetness. Lots of cocoa and milk chocolate in the mouth...sweet, yet dry and not cloying at all. Medium bodied and creamy smooth with rather low carbonation. Might have to come back on Valentine's Day or give it another try in bottle format.
