12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

Dense rocky head, impressive with a clear reddish hue. Aromas of earthy malt, fresh grass, bread, and faintly herbal hop. Smooth, moderate sized body, wet, fresh grain, toasty, mineral, herbal, hay, very malty, hint of sweetness, clean, ample hop bitterness, drying finish.

Wow, Terrapin pretty much nailed the style here. Very well done.

A: Digging this nice amber look. Beautiful head to top it all off...or amybe that is just my supreme pouring skills coming to light again!

S: Eh...a bit like a blonde actually (wonder what yeast we get here) but there is a smooth citrus aroma that follows on the tale end. blends well to makean interesting pairing.

T: Not bad at all, reminds me of a smooth amber I had once form Williamsburg Alewerks...this has that great clean Alt taste too though. Love it!

M: Surprisingly heavy for such a lowly touted beer. I was actually expecting much less!

O: Very pleased with the flavor, the price, and the label (my favorite part of Terrapin) Buy it if you like the style, a good sample of it. I could even see a full sixer of this in the future.

On tap at Common Market South End. Poured deep amber with a pillow of off white foam that stuck around. Smell was toasted malt, bread, a little caramel. Taste was more of the same, with caramel becoming more pronounced at the end. Some bitterness (the familiar lager bite) but nothing too harsh. Medium bodied and very easy to drink.

Overall a solid beer and an interesting opportunity to try another altbier - being in Charlotte I'm spoiled by OMB, and this beer didn't measure up to that standard. A good beer and something I'd drink again though.

A: Poured from a bottle to a cylinder glass. Had a copper color and a clear texture. There was an inch and a half of foamy, off white, long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: The malt comes through the most in the aroma, but not much else.

T: Tasted of malt - a lot of malt - along with some light hops and a bready quality as well. Not exactly the most multidimensional flavor, but decent enough. Very heavy on the malt.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a somewhat harsh finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: I suppose your opinion of this beer would be shaded by whether or not you like altbiers to begin with. This isn't a bad example of that style, but it's also not overly interesting either.

A: Pours a clear copper with three fingers of off-white head that fades into a thin layer with a solid sheet of lacing.

S: Crystal malts up front with light citrus hop notes and sweet biscuity aromas.

T: Piney and earthy hop flavors with crystal malts and a moderate bitterness. There is a slight tartness to it as well.

M: Medium-light body with medium carbonation, this beer is more sudsy than crisp.

O: A solid beer overall, though it lacks some depth and is a bit on the bitter side.
