Pours light brown with an ok white head. The smell is cinnamon, cinnamon and more cinnamon. Luckily I really like cinnamon, but if you don't, forget this beer. I personally like the burn than the cinnamon provides but the taste might get a bit old quick. Definitely enjoy this beer, maybe more of a winter brown. The thing I hate about these reunion ales every year is that they are all different, good, but can never get again.

22 oz bottle pours a near-black color with a large cap of beige head. Decent retention and great lacing.

Definitely get the cinnamon and cocoa in the aroma...maybe some vanilla yogurt upon further inspection. Honey, chocolate and biscotti also come to mind.

The cocoa really helps bring everything together into a cohesive experience. Seems to bridge the gap between the zesty cinnamon and soft, buttery vanilla flavor. I really like it, just the right amount of sweetness. I cant remember having too many good beers that were spiced and hoppy, so it seems like a good idea to keep the hops low. I wouldn’t mind a bit more richness to the body, but other than that, this one is a winner, I could even see myself buying it again.

A: Murky brown body with a scant white head. Little retention.
S: Rich cinnamon and cocoa aromas stand out along with vanilla, and sweet brown malt to a lesser extent. It all works together nicely.
T: Wow. Cinnamon flavor is extremely intense. Most of the other flavors seem to get lost in a sweetish brown malt base and thunderous cinnamon flavor which carries all the way through the finish. Somewhat of a one-dimensional flavor. As the tastebuds become dulled to the cinnamon, the sweetish brown malt and vanilla become apparent, capped by a woody, slightly bitter finish. Still, too one-dimensional.
M: medium to light body with somewhat low carbonation.

Enjoyable beer, but could be improved on. The cinnamon flavor really drowns out some of the additions that are more noticeable in the aroma. I would put it in the “good, but one pint is plenty” category.

Medium brown with a small tan head, light enough to see through.
The smell is mostly vanilla but a small amount of cinnamon is also present.
All of the extras can be tasted. Chocolate is first and the vanilla sweetens the pot with the cinnamon finishing things off. Interesting the way all three can be separated in the taste.
Has a creamy low carbonation feel. Although it rates high I think of of the 22 oz bottles is plenty.

A- unlike other reviews on this site while there was quite a bit of head and lacing throughout the entire experience

S- Smells - Very strong dark chocolate and vanilla nose

T- At first almost harsh and hard to distinguish the flavors but as it lingers the chocolate and cinamon really come through

M- Frothy with a smooth lingering finish

O- Overall I would say a 3.5 its definately a beer I could drink more than once. It was enjoyable as long as your not expecting a beer that is extremely smooth throughout

Served on tap at Barcade in Jersey City, NJ

A: Pours an opaque very dark brown in color with some clear reddish brown near the edges of the glass when held up to the light. The beer has a quarter finger tall dark beige head that reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of vanilla sweetness with lighter notes of chocolate and cocoa. There is a moderate aroma of roasted malts, overall a very inviting aroma to this beer.

T: Moderate flavors of dark and roasted malts with chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla - there is a moderate amount of sweetness with hints of caramel and molasses. Light notes of cinnamon in the finish.

M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Very enjoyable and a great beer to sip - easy to drink but a little strong to be sessionable. The alcohol is very well hidden and the cocoa nibs and vanilla really enhance the taste and smell of this beer.

On-tap at Barcade, Jersey City, NJ

A: The beer is very dark brown in color and has some reddish highlights. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down and left a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are strong aromas of cocoa nibs in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is filled with flavors of cocoa nibs and also has some sweetness and hints of vanilla.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a very nice and enjoyable beer, especially for people who enjoy cocoa nibs.
