Dark gold and lightly hazed with a small cream colored head. Modest retention and some patchy lace clinging to the glass. Lovely aroma of Citra hops, fruity and citrusy with faintly resinous pine notes and mild caramel malt.

Decent flavor that follows the nose pretty closely but seems a little thin in comparison. Again a good deal of citrus and pine, lightly earthy notes, and moderate caramel sweetness. Average bitterness and semidry finish.

Medium body and carbonation. Good smoothness, pretty solid overall.

Received as an extra in a trade. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a nice crystal clear copper hue with a good two finger creamy white head that slumped down to a food one finger blanket with lots of sticky side lacing. Quite nice.

S - Some malty sweetness on the nose here followed by some nice light hops. Not nearly as green as I would like to see but the hops are atleast present.

T - Taste is a bit, flat. Not nearly as hoppy as I would expect or wish for an IPA to be. This seems for me to be the trend with beers that claim to be "green" or "sticky" in the title; they simply never deliver. Alot more malts than in the nose with some faint almost bubblegum hop notes. An incredibly light bitter finish rounds things out.

M - Mouthfeel is nice and almost sharp. Keeps things very crisp and refreshing. Nice.

O - Overall, this was a good IPA. Not sure how old it is, perhaps thats why the taste just didn't cut it for me. The appearance and mouthfeel is very nice, but the taste and aroma just doesnt cut it for me. Still, not too shabby.

Poured into a pint glass out of a 22oz bomber.

Pours a slightly hazy deep copper with barely a tiny head. Decent lacing though so I give it a couple points for that.

The aroma on this is just out of this world. Tons of citrus in the way of orange and mango with a little bit of pine thrown in. No malt is really detectable but that is ok with this kind of hop aroma!

The flavor is where things go south. The hops are much more muted than I was hoping. Orange and a little pine is still there but in small quantities. There is a sweet orange candy base but no bread or caramel. Mouthfeel is full and smooth and quite sticky to the point of being cloying.

Overall, I'm really struggling to drink this. It is overly sweet, almost syrupy, without a ton of hop flavor. I am really disappointed by this brew.

16oz draft
Pinocchio's pint glass
12/13/12

A: Pours a mildly hazy orange amber color. Minimal off white head. Some good lacing sheeting. Solid looking fresh hop ale.

S: Smells kind of muted. Getting some citrus and some pine. Not overly fruity but some of that overripe peach and grapefruit are there. I was hoping for more if this was the Citra hopped version.

T: Nice spot of bitterness on the tip of the tongue. Getting more fruitiness here than you got on the nose: some orange marmalade and grapefruit juice. The malt bill is there and helps to create a nice balance, but still heavier in the hop hit. Lingering bitter hop flavors lead into a dry finish.

M: Medium bodied. Very easy drinking.

Pours dark amber with a fluffy off-white head that settles to a nice cap. Great aromas of fresh CItra hops, lots of typical mango, papaya, grapefruit, and peach with a moderately sweet caramel malt profile. Taste is obviously Citra-forward, more tropical hop notes, with a mild bitterness in the finish and nicely balanced malt backbone. Mouthfeel is nice and crisp, with a medium body and ample carbonation. Overall a solid addition to the Terrapin line-up, and probably the best of the 3 So Fresh and So Green, Green versions.

I don't review very often, buy after trying this one I thought I would try and rectify it's mediocre scores.
From a big 22 oz bottle into a snifter.
Appearance- honestly not an ocular spectacle but still has a reddish orange color associated with the style.
Aroma- spectacular, reminiscent of Zombie Dust. Almost like a hop perfume or cologne certainly orange zesty and lemony. Kind of has the pleasant "gym socks" sort of thing going on.
Taste- Just Great! Very little malt influence at all WHICH IS DESIRABLE in this style. Bitterness is subtle and complements the hop flavor very well. The only way to describe it is as an Orange Sour Patch Kid made of cotton candy.
Mouthfeel- Smooth liquid and creamy head throughout the duration.

OVERALL- Very underrated, perhaps because it is Terrapin and people don't want to admit they like it but this is a top notch beer. After the first sip, my thought was "I need to get some more of this tomorrow. I know Terrapin does a good job with hops, this exceeded my expectations, and I will be buying/drinking this again in this year or the next.

Single finger head with excellent lacing on a slightly hazy amber orange body. nice hop mix in the aroma with floral, earthy and pine present. the flavor is mildly bitter with more of a APA degree of hops which are mostly earthy, slightly metallic and floral. mouthfeel of medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall the hop character is a bit simple and non-descript and plain. the frshness of the hops is definitly there I just was wanting something a little more dynamic and complex.

Pours a deep golden color with a slight head. Slight lacing, resiny looking.
Smell is a little muted for the style. That citrus presence is there but not as assertive as i'd like.
Taste is a bit sweet up front, followed by a bit of a nice citrusy finish that lingers for a while. Basically the back end tastes like citra.
Mouthfeel is nice, slick and pretty smooth, carbonation seems right for style.
Overall this is a pleasant enough beer, and if you are looking for a citra fix (which I was) then this will work. Ultimately though it feels like a less intense version of Zombie Dust (not that that has to be a bad thing).

Poured from a 22 oz brown bomber into a Duvel tulip. No freshness date other than "2012 Citra Hops" on label. Purchased at Market Street Wineshop (Charlottesville, VA) for $6.99.

A: Surprisingly dirty amber with 1-2 fingers of off-white head with decent retention leaving an irregular ring of foamy lacing around the top of the liquid line.

S: Super aroma with a good blend of grapefruit, orange, and lemon citrus, floral notes, and a musky undertone which is a signature for Citra in my mind (nose?). Some pine hops poke through as well. The malt component is way subdued with a light crackery character.

T: The flavor is also pretty citrusy with grapefruit leading the way and with more lemon than orange in the middle to finish. The floral note blend with pine to give a really dry honeysuckle flavor to the finish. There is that same undercurrent of earthy muskiness as well. The maltiness is not at all assertive but lends a light caramel quality. The bitterness is low.

M: The feel is good with relatively low carbonation and a medium body. It is fairly slick and very easy to drink.

O: A good not great fresh hop beer from Terrapin. Definitely worth a try, if not for just the great aroma!

Thanks to my buddy Tom for this bottle he brought back from a recent trip to Florida. 22 oz. Bomber. Happy to do this as one of my first reviews.

Pour: From bomber into imperial tulip pint glass. Deep amber color with some subtle orange around the edges. One finger head which dissipates quickly and doesn't leave much lacing.

Aroma: Fresh citrus and some pine. Definitely packs an aromatic punch of citrusy, earthy hops with maybe a slight hint of tropical fruits.

Taste: Earthy, citrusy hops. Orange and grapefruit predominant with quite a bit of pale malt throughout. Slightly bitter at the finish. Can definitely tell this was a wet hopped beer. Some pine resin is noticeable. Aroma is better than the taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body. Some density to it, but winds up on the lighter side of medium.

Overall: Good solid fresh hop IPA. Might be a little lighter than a typical IPA. Drinks easily, more like a pale ale with a citra hop punch in the aroma and flavor. Very enjoyable.

A: copper/marmalade body, trace white head, a little lacing

S: grapefruit, pine, earthy, mild spices

T: same as nose, mild bitter long finish

M: med body, solid oily mouth

O: Hoppy nearly sessionable, love this brewery,
but midly disappointed here. Maybe my fault
for loving Terrapin. Would get again and recommend
but not a must.

RATHER GOOD, NOT MUST HAVE!

I love this season... fresh hop beer season! This is my third one this season, and I'm glad for every one I get ahold of.

On each pour you get a ton of hop smell coming from the top. I really enjoy the smell from the citra hops.

The flavor is very hop forward (obviously). I really enjoy picking up the citrus and lemon in each sip. I like the balance, especially with all of the hops that are there. This has a lot of very good flavor.

Terrapin offers a very good fresh hop beer. My hat is off to them.

22 ounce bomber poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a hazy copper color with a 1 finger head and nice lacing.

S: Wow!! What a smell! Strong, fresh citrus and floral hops along with some grass and peach aromas. Some pine mixed in there too. So Fresh & So Green is right!

T: Much more balanced than the nose, there is a good bit of malt flavor along with the fresh hops. Nice bitterness as well as some breadiness.

M: Medium bodied with good carbonation.

O: What a wonderful smelling, well balanced, smooth, easy to drink IPA. Well done Terrapin!!

PIcked up a bomber at Tasty Beverage Co. in Raleigh, NC.

Pours a nice amber with deep orange hues. About a finger of tan/off-white head that receded quickly to a patchy film on the top of the beer.

The smell was extremely fresh. Overwhelming flowery and citrus hop notes. Wow, I love the nose of this beer! A slight breadiness comes through as the beer warms.

An acidic hop bite right off the bat. It gives way to a strong malty backbone. A slightly resinous lingering bitterness at the back end of the sip. The end of the sip is a nice citrusy citra flavor.

Medium bodied with a toned down carbonation build from the wet hopping. Very slightly oily, but not nearly as much as I was expecting.

To me this beer is worth the purchase just to sit there and smell it.

A; The beer is hazy amber orange in color. It poured with a short off white head. That died down and left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate to string aromas of fresh hops stand out-citrusy hops seem to stand out in particular.
T: There are flavors of citrus hops along with some hints of pine resin and a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is detectable.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and packs in lots of fresh hop flavors.
