Hunahpu Day pour #5. Dark brown/black with tan creamy head. Smell is all bourbon, not much chocolate, and is rather harsh. Flavor tastes like bourbon poured in a thin stout without any depth in flavor. Medium mouthfeel with low carbonation. The body just doesn't stand up to the bourbon barrels in this one, and it comes off as a shot of whiskey with a little beer in it. Not a huge fan of these lighter beers stuck in liquor barrels.

On tap at Cigar City during Tampa Bay Beer Week.
Being that I'm already a fan of Moo-Hoo, i was excited to see this on the mini-tap takeover list.
poured an opaque black, just what i would expect. red khaki head, minimal lacing.
a lot of barrel on the nose, rich chocolate and roasty malts.
Tasted a bit boozy, but i dont really mind that. whats the point of putting it in bourbon barrels if its not going to impart a bourbon flavor, right? my only issue with the flavor is that the barrel really threw the beer out of balance. most of the milky chocolate flavor i love in the regular moo-hoo disappeared as it was smashed by bourbon.
The mouthfeel was off. maybe a 6%-er wasnt the best choice for barrel aging. The flavors seem like they would mix well, and for the most part they did, but this beer doesn't have the body to hold up to the heavy barrel presence.
Overall, im glad i tried it, and perhaps would revisit it if i had a bottle that had been sitting for a couple of months to cool off. But the lack of balance really stood out to me.

Review #1900*!!! This one was made exclusively for Aroma’s in Athens, GA! Since I was the one who added Moo-Hoo AND the picture for it, doesn't it only seem fitting that I add this one as well? Big thanks goes out to beeruser for sharing this one at a recent Random Sunday Tasting! I had NO idea that this existed until I got a phone call from beeruser who insisted on telling me what it was rather than being surprised. Served from growler into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured pitch black with a half finger tan head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, milk, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, sweet alcohol, and vanilla. The flavor was of sweet malt, roasted malt, vanilla, milk chocolate, sweet alcohol, and subtle wood. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. I have to say that I am a big fan of the base brew on this one, but the barrel just took it to a whole new level. While this one kept some of the subtlety that I love about Moo Hoo, the barrel just added another layer of complexity to it. A really nice barrel treatment of an already solid brew. Well done on this one Terrapin and thanks again beeruser for allowing me the chance to enjoy this one beeruser! Tick.
