Pours into an imperial nonic a deep rich amber with a sticky half finger lighter beige head, nice full color and a well defined head.Fresh citrusy hops in the nose with not much malt presence, there is light spiciness from the rye used as well. The beer is suprisingly light in my opinion, not a bad thing really just an observation as I start drinking it.Flavors of fresh citric hops are nice and they linger, some earthiness also comes through, light spicy rye is there but not big, some light roasted malt flavors and caramel maltiness beneath the hops.An interesting easy drinking amber here, not your typical amber, a nicely hopped fresh tasting one.

A: Pours a lovely clear copper.

S: Sweet caramel and butterscotch on the nose.

T: Taste to me is somewhat disappointing. The rye doesn't come through as much as I'd like. It's got some subtle caramel and mild hop tang.

M: It's a little thin on the palate. But it does leave some residual stickiness.

O: I wanna really like these guys, but I've yet to meet one of their beers that blows me away.
Overall this is an ok example of a rye. Nothing magical. But at the price it's worth picking up. It's an easy drinker.

22oz brown bomber with no freshness date though it does state a volume #.

Epic head drop down to an even more epic lacing, clear garnet color is alluring. Hop resin, spice, biscuity, rye, hint of caramel, mild tropical fruit, and a hint of alcohol all make for an amazing nose. Soft hop resin, very smooth, creamy full-ish body, slightly dank, spicy rye, herbal hop, suggestions of cedar chips, peppery, biscuity, fresh cut hay, and a long lingering hoppy grainy finish.

There is so much going on there, thankfully it is well balanced and stays quite drinkable. Complex but still approachable. Someone worked some magic here.

12 oz 2014 bottle served in a lager glass.

A great looking ale, it is deep red-brown with excellent clarity and a creamy tan head that has great endurance and lacing.

Aroma: spicy, herbal and pungent.

Not terribly familiar with this hop variety but I get a clear impression that the rye grain is a great match for this hop. Simultaneously seems balanced yet very spicy. Impossible to separate the hop flavors from the rye flavors, excepting the tropical fruits. Spicy notes linger on in the hoppy aftertaste.

Feel: near medium body with lively, medium+ carbonation.

(revised with 12 oz bottle in July 2014)

12oz bottle poured into a snifter. Enjoy by the third week of July in 2014.

A: Pours a clear deep red with a white head on top. Spots of lacing on the sides of the glass as the head dissipates in a minute or so.

S: Up front malty rye blended nicely with a the tropical nose of mosaic hops. Pretty tropical nose on this one.

T: Nice balance in this beer, a blend of tropical fruits and a hint of spice from the rye. The bitterness of the hops is harnessed by the malt backbone so it never overwhelms. Real clean flavor on this one.

M: Medium body with ample carbonation. For an IPA is has a fairly clean finish with no unwanted stickiness from the hops.

Overall I'm a huge fan of rye malts and mosaic hops so I went into this with some high expectations. It is a very solid beer that I could drink all night.

Deep woody garnet color with a nice bubbly beige head. Lace is shifting, spotty and stringy. Aroma is lightly sweet, crackers, rye, fleshy fruits, earthy, root veggies, crisply dry, dusty, melon, and a hint of white wine. Taste is pretty mellow. Hops seem to be at pretty chill levels. What is most noticeable is the rye character and steely dryness. Hop flavors that are there seem to be pine, melon, mystery berries, and peach. Mouthfeel has some nice qualities. Overall though a little more to mingle with the rye would be preferred.

Bottle from most recent road trip.. English style red ale. Generous head.Well malted, with hoppy finish. The hops are not at palate erasing mode yet a new beer. Smooth mouthfeel. Good drinkability. Not as citrus hoppy as the aroma would suggest. Not a bad take on a red beer, though not the best I have had.

A - dark amber with a thick, off white head that has good retention

S - herbal, piney

T - dark malts, some rye, peppery, herbal hop character

M - medium bodied but thin at times, well carbonated

This is a bit disappointing. I was excited to try a single-hop beer with a hop strain that I never tried before. Unfortunately, this one just didn't deliver for me. The hop character is decent but not as forward as I would have liked. The addition of rye added some comlexity to the mild malt character. The mouthfeel came across as a bit thin at times as well. Overall, this isn't a bad beer, but it's not as flavor-forward as I was hoping it to be. I'll pass on this one in the future.
