22oz bottle from Sherlocks (Marietta, GA). 7.98. Released 03/13. Served in a Three Floyds teku.
Pours ruddy amber mahogany with a finger and a half thick pale head. Maintains a thin layer of head that leaves pretty sheets of lace.
Smells fantastic. Citrus, sweet pine, earthy mint and caramel. I can't quite place what all I'm smelling but I can't stop coming back to take another whiff. I was almost reluctant to finish drinking this because it smells so freakin good.
Taste can't quite keep up with rhe nose but still quite nice. Earthy, spicey rye, semi-generic but tasty sweet citrus, faint peach, mild caramel and a dash of mint. As in the nose, I can't really identify all of the flavors but it seems to be typical in the few Mosaic hopped brews I've tried lately.
Just under medium body with moderate carbonation. Clean, dry, earthy citrus finish.
I'm starting to really dig this hop. It has a unique earthy, minty, citrus blend that does well in a red ale like this, particularly with the spicy rye counterpoint. The aroma seems to be where Mosaic hops really shine in my opinion but that's not to say that it isn't delicious too. Definately worth a try to better acquaint yourslf with this fairly new hop that I'm looking forward to seeing (& smelling!) in many more IPAs and red ales in the future.

I purchased this at Wegman's enjoyed chilled from the 12oz in a willybecker.
The color is deep copper bordering on bronze with crimson hue and thick tan head with fine bead and spotty lace sticks. The smell is fruity, herbal and slightly sweet with a nice rye maltiness in the aroma with slight citrus orange-like scent with light toast. The feel is moderately carbonated with medium body and slight sweetness with a hop bitterness that starts low and builds but does not take away from the balance of malt with mild alcohol and semi-sweet finish.
The taste is good with nice malt presence which is more toasted than sweet with slight hint of caramel and mild citrus from the hops with a more herbal flavor and mild spice aspect. The flavor is good with malt supporting the mild orange flavor in the hops with a smooth yeast adding to the hops which are lightly piney toward the finish which has a mild alcohol warmth yet is more dry than sweet. Overall I like this but expected more from the Mosaic since the beer is named for it, but I understand it is a single hop and perhaps it might work better in a blend. I like the full malt and would not hesitate to try this on draft or purchase it again.
