I’ve been here a few times over the last year for brunches and lunches. The food and service is always great. They have a 27 good beers and two ciders that seems to rotate frequently. We love sitting out on the patio. They have a new bar area too which frees up some space.

Atmosphere - Small place tucked into a small retail building. As you walk in the front doors theres a small waiting area and bathrooms and past that is the restaurant. The indoor area is very small with only a handful of tables. The Outside area is much bigger and the weather is generally good so thats the place to be anyways.
Quality/Selection - They only have five or six taps and on my visit two were taken with some River City Cider the others were fairly run of the mill crafts and PBR. I was on a cider kick during my visit so I was happy and it was still early.
Service - My visit was fairly early on a Saturday around 10:30am the waitstaff all seamed pretty happy helpful. My waitress was kind and quick with my orders. Maybe its the afternoon shifts that are rude.
Food - I stopped here because my friend keeps on raving about their burgers so I had to see for myself. However I got here too early and they were serving breakfast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and it was one of the best ones I've ever had highly recommended.
Overall I think this is a good spot to grab a bite to eat and a beer.

Here's the deal with Dad's. Their beer selection is average at best. I've been here a number of times (I'll get to why in a moment), and they generally have a cider, PBR, and 3 or 4 random mediocre craft brews. They seem to favor local breweries such as Speakeasy or Odonata though, and there's nothing wrong with that. Nothing on tap is really ever that good though, and none of the waiters and waitresses I've had know anything at all about beer.
The food is equally average at best. Sure it's presented quite nicely, but really there's nothing on the menu that special...except the Dad's Burger. THIS burger (which has bacon and blue cheese mixed into the beef) has got to be one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, and burgers are my favorite food. It's the only reason I keep going back, and I'm more than willing to pay the $12 for it.
The service sucks. I'm sorry, there is really no other way to put it. While some times are better than other, I haven't had a very good experience yet in the half a dozen times I've gone.
Basically the bottom line is if you go here expect crappy service. Order a Dad's burger and the best beer they have on tap, and hopefully the burger will make up for everything else.

Dad's is one of my favorite places to go in the neighborhood and has always treated me right.
On nice days and summer evenings the back patio can't be beat. It is beautifully arranged and decorated and makes you feel miles away and relaxed.
The staff is incredible. They are attentive even on busy nights, very friendly and always willing to stop and chat. When there is a wait they are more than happy to bring you out a beer while your table is being prepared.
The food is exceptional and for my money there isn't a better burger in Sacramento then the Dad's Burger, and there are a lot of good burgers here. The menu is what you would expect to find in a neighborhood gastropub but the quality is great and all of the food is prepared fresh and well.
They always have 5 beers and a cider on tap and never have any garbage on tap. While they don't have the wildest selection or anything extremely rare they do offer a wide variety from each style and try and feature many different breweries. They have pint nights on occasion where they feature one brewery and those are always an excellent time. Tuesdays are all day happy hour and can't be beat.
Dad's is one of my favorite places in town and I can't recommend it highly enough. Go if you are looking for some tasty food, excellent and friendly service, and a very respectable beer selection.
