Slightly hazy, dark amber color with one finger of head that holds for awhile before settling to a thin cap. Heavy lacing is left on the glass. Plenty of Fuggle hops fill the nose. Light fruit and grassy notes with a little biscuit like malt in the background. A little more malt comes through in the flavor. Slightly sweet malt charactor with fruity hop flavors. There is a slightly astrigent aftertaste I did not notice in the tasting room the day before that lowers the score slightly. The malt balances out the bitterness which I would estimate in the 50-60 IBU range. It could be higher since this is nicely balanced and the brewer likes to push the upper limits of English styles. Still plenty of carbonation in the beer even after several hours in a car. Smooth, rich body that is a joy to drink. I sampled all the beers from this brewery and they were all well made. This was my favorite. If this beer proves popular it may be brought in the rotation along with the other offerings. With a little tweeking, this could be outstanding.
