Notes/Commercial Description:
Fisgard 150 Bavarian Lager is a traditional Bavarian style lager that is renowned for its crisp dry first impression and refreshing mild hop finish. This beer features an imported yeast strain, premium malts and noble hops in keeping with the authentic Bavarian style. The extended conditioning period gives Fisgard 150 an extremely smooth mouth feel, while the imported pilsen malts create the exceptionally bright, clean, colour characteristic.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. Straw yellow just grading into golden amber, with an inch of bright white head composed of rather large bubbles. Notably sweet aroma, corn flakes, candied lemon, and perhaps a hint of tropical fruit, anchored firmly in malt territory but with a fine hop aroma as well, noble with a few American twists. Palate is similarly fine and refined if a tad sweet, ample hay-like noble hops floating on top of a bread-like gentle maltiness. Considerable residual sweetness, perhaps more than is desirable for the style but I am currently alright with this relative lack of cleanliness. Lacks crispness but delivers a good flavor. Some fruity and floral/green echoes, berry, licorice, mixed herbs, pumpkin? Thick-bodied for the style as well, has a little chew and finishes herbal yet sweet. Not sure why this brew ranks so low here; I think it exceeds an "okay" estimation but whatever. I have highlighted the potential flaws here as well as the significant upside.

355ml bottle, a single broken free from its mixed-pack shackles.

This beer pours a crystal clear, pale golden yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, bubbly, shiny off-white head, which leaves some sparse low-lying cloud lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of grainy, corny cereal malt, a hint of lemon cleanser, and sharp grassy, weedy hops. The taste is more warm flecked corn, a bit of pale malt, mild overripe lemon rind, a hard water minerality, and leafy, somewhat floral hops.

The carbonation is fairly quiet in its goings about, the body a decent medium weight for the style, and really rather smooth. It finishes off-dry, the cereal malt and wet flint notes carrying on.

An adequate enough example of a heartier lager, one without the alcohol uptick, yet with a few minor rough edges. While a fair deal preferable to the macro lagers of the land, it pales somewhat against the more readily available and consistent all-malt craft lagers. Worthy to try, but I'm not particularly motivated to revisit this.

A - light straw yellow, stark white head with decent volume retained decent with a constant stream of carbonation from the bottom
S - corn adjunct, crackers, hints of leafiness, fairly basic
T - much like the aroma, with a touch of mineral/metallic, mild flavours, again fairly basic
M - crisp and clean, strong carbonation, slightly bitter and dry
O - better than a run of the mill macro, but in that same vein, easy drinking with a slice of pizza, probably not worth picking up outside of a mixer pack

A light floral & grassy aroma with a slight hint of sulfur. Same with the taste, it's nice that the lager yeast isn't too neutral. The bitterness is very mild, allowing a bit of residual sweetness to come through (I'd certainly prefer a little more bitterness). Light to moderate body, off-dry finish. Certainly preferable to many macro's, and the restrained bitterness may appeal to that market... I just like a little more bitterness & flavour in a brew.

A: golden crisp with a thin head with nice lacing.

S: Very pale malt, a little butteriness, maybe a slight coriander hint.

T: Very crisp light butter like flavor with hints of pale wheat.

M: medium body, nice carbonation.

D: its an OK beer nothing special though, and a little to pale for my liking.

355ml bottle poured into pint glass 29/1/12

A clear golden yellow with a two finger head that falls quickly leaving no lace

S floral and grassy with some soggy corn flakes and cracker

T some lemon to go with what I smell, nothing special here, has a slightly sour flavor that leaves a little too be desired

M a little thin but has a little snap too it and a clean finish

O better then our macros but this one just didn't do it for me, that slightly sour lemony cornflake is bringing it down to average

I'm hoping there's better offerings in my mixed 12 pack because this ones pretty basic

This new beer from Lighthouse pours a bright yellow-gold with a 1 finger white head that dissipates into a decent film but doesn't leave much in terms of lacing at all.

I am surprised to be hit first with the smells of some nice citrusy hops up front with some really pronounced bready/biscuitty malt aromas in there as well as your typical grassiness. As it warms up a bit, I am also getting some decent aromas of cotton candy.

Taste is, again, full of bread, biscuit and butter malt flavours throughout the whole sip. There is a good amount of minerality present as well with a definite boiled rice flavour on the finish and linger. Hops are present throughout but, clearly, this one is all about the malt.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and clean. Nothing crazy, just a real clean brew.

As for its drinkability, I could easily see myself polishing off a 6 pack of these no problem. Real easy drinking stuff. Would make a great session lager on a hot day.

Seems this beer is to replace the old lager they make. Pretty decent lager that tastes crisp and clean but does not stand out from the crowded craft lager pack in BC. I like it in the mixed 12 pack as I don't really want 6 of these in the fridge. Riptide is their best regular offering
