Pours darkish orange and translucent... hey, like apricots, I get it! Very impressive white crown, it's been a while since I've seen a head last longer than 5 minutes like this one. Any time I can hear the foam from several feet away while pouring I know something good is about to happen.
Smell is of honey, apricot (i guess, I don't smell too many apricots), light funk, and floral soap. Points off for that last one.
The beer does not taste like soap, so that's alright. In fact it's full of juicy sour goodness. Bold, powerful, and refreshingly dry sourness similar to and almost as intense as Russian River sours. But it has a house character unique to Cascade. Not too sweet, some pony blanket, and the apricot/fruity and flowery aspects are present but subdued.
Mouthfeel is great, big prickly bubbles perfectly suited for this kind of beer.
I went into this expecting an American Wild, not a Tripel. Therefore, this is a win.
