Notes/Commercial Description:
"Brewmaster Ron Gansberg based this Apricot Ale on a Belgian Tripel, putting it through 16 months lactic fermentation and aging in French oak wine barrels. The apricots were allowed to slowly ripen before introduction into the beer; the beer then aged another four months on the fruit before bottling."

Poured a 750 ML bottle of this into my 12oz Goose Island Tulip. Thanks for the brew Dan! 2011 Project Vintage.

Aroma- Big fruit and musky sour aroma. Hits with a hint of apricot in the deep background if you search.

Appearance- Pours a 1 finger head that has average head retention. Has a deep reddish-orange glowing color. Leaves a few suds behind.

Flavor- Sour huge with a tart fruit flavor. Apricot is in the background again but after each drink, this character becomes more definite.

Mouthfeel- Light-Medium Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Sour Apricot flavors from beginning to end and nice pucker at the finish.

Overall Impression- Haven't done a review in a while so when I popped this one, thought it would be a good one to start back on! Super sour and has a great apricot background. Highly Recommend this one and wouldn't mind picking up another one of these in the near future! Trade anyone?

Last bottle in a super good tasting last night. Thanks a ton to Chico1985 for busting this out.

A- 750ml bottle split into three tulip glasses. A some what hazy orange body with a fizzy head. The white cap has some pretty huge bubbles in it but retains nicely for a Wild Ale. Nice medium thick clouds of lace.

S- Super pungent apricot fruit bomb, like pierces the nostrils with fresh fruit. You can tell the beer will be tart but it is just like an explosion of stone fruit goodness. Did I mention the awesome apricot freshness. Some funk and general sour citrus as well.

T- Again apricot and general stone fruit dominates the palate. This bottle is super fresh so maybe that helps with the fruit flavors. The sour bugs and funk blend in almost too well with each super fresh fruity sip. Some vinous, barnyard, lemon, fruit pit and funky qualities as well.

MF- Fairly foamy and dried out light end body like a Gueuze but maybe a bit creamier. Sour level is moderately high and the carbonation is on the higher end.

Each sip just reminds me of biting into a super ripe apricot and other similar pitted fruits. So flavorful and the tart wild aspect of the beer just tops it off to become a truly great brew. Maybe the best beer I have had this year. Some people seem to not get the apricot much but this bottle was fantastic.

Had at the Bros Brunch (not those Bros...)

Poured the perfect apricot orange with a finger of bright white fizzy head.

Aroma is full of ripe apricots, vinegar and acidity. Amazing nose on this beer! Smells tart and sweet....

Taste follows the nose win the perfect vinegar /tart add on. Amazing how well it follows the nose! Tastes amazing!

light in body and ample in carbonation. Great dry tart finish.

Overall, cascade can't do wrong, period. An amazing wild with all the trimmings.

What an amazing beer! This is the 2008 vintage at 9% abv. Slightly murky orngein color wih a very nice mousse-like head that leaves some lacing. Wonderful aromas of crushed ripe apricots with some tannic notes from the skins. Similar depth of flavor in the mouth, with vibrant ripe apricot, tnnin from the skins, a deep background bitternes, and a lactic tartness throuhout. Wonefuly balnced, quenching and evocative of a summers day. Fairly tart and lactic in the mouth, this is just deligtful all around.

2009 Bottling Label say 9.0% ABV... Listing says 8.3%... I'm assuming it's slightly different for each vintage.

As I've entered my exploratory phase with sours, this beer was suggested to me by several folks that I trust. I've been looking forward to trying this for several months.

Poured into my wine glass and a fluffy off white head formed. This stayed for a minute and no longer then it completely faded away. The beer is a slightly hazy amber color with orange highlights. A few wispy patches of lacing stick, but not much.

Aroma is slightly acidic, tart with some wood notes. I have to say that the first thing I thought of when I smelled this was Supplication. (that's a compliment!) As far as the fruit aroma, I would have probably guessed peach or nectarine... But I obviously realize it's apricot.

This is a fantastic beer. Initial tartness gives way to a wonderfully complex beer that's full of fruit, nutty components, plenty of oak and of course lots of character from the yeast. There is this wonderful combination of nuts and layers of malt that I've fallen in love with. As your tongue explores these there is that layer of tartness that keeps everything bright and fresh. Subtle bitterness at the end seems to compliment the apricot fruit flavors.

Body is very light and this is a very refreshing beer. The carbonation is there but it's so tiny and subdued that you'd hardly notice it. Great beer for the heat of the summer in my book. Certainly acidic.

I know I love a beer when I am already trying to figure out when to enjoy the next bottle. I just saw this at a store and I will have to pick up a couple more before this vintage vanishes. I look forward to trying this year's version. Great beer.

2011 750ml bottle poured into a 51oz chalice.

Pours orange with a bleach blond 1/2" head.

Nose is wheat, musty oak, tropical fruits,

Flavor is tons of tropical fruit, lactic sour, white wine, oak.

Mouthfeel is pretty full bodied for a barrel-aged sour. Great carbonation.

Overall- excellent. The best Cascade sour I've had.
