16 oz pour at brouwers Seattle. Couldn't say no to a sour brown from my favorite brewery, and it delivers. Dark with medium head. Smell is sweet, tart and a little roast.

Taste is pure decadence. Rich, full bodied and tart... Its a winner. I am surprised I like how sweet it is, but the tart cuts it. Lasting flavor is more akin to other dark Belgians.

Drinkabikity, definitely. Its refresing, only critique is the sweetness is a bit cloying.

Appears dark brown with a medium bodied tan head.

It smells a bit fruity, and a bit nutty and floral.

It tastes a bit grassy, floral, there is a bit of a dry spicy flavor. I also get a bit of a peppery Belgian yeast. I get a mild nutty and roasted malt flavor as well. i also get a unexpected sour flavor. There is also a bit of a grape like fruity flavor to the beer as well.

It has a smooth mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

Overall it is an ok beer but i do not think the flavors mingled that well with each other.

On tap the barrel room today. I listed this beer as "on tap," though I'm not entirely sure that's accurate. This beer was aged in barrel, and was tapped right from the wood. However, I was told that they do inject some CO2 into the beer, though it really doesn't look like it (the beer has that cask conditioning head look to it, and the carbonation in this beer was pretty low). In any event...

The beer pours a very dark brown color with good head retention and lacing (thought as noted above, the foamy head makes this beer look as if it was cask conditioned). The nose is attractive, showing brown sugar, chocolate and light sour. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but with a bit more vanilla and considerably more sour. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a long smooth finish. Carbonation seems pretty low, which seems to add a soft, creamy element to the mouthfeel. Drinkability is OK, but the sour and somewhat noticeable alcohol (for Cascade at least) is bit much for me. Still a fine beer, but just not my cup of tea.

On draught at the brewpub (and at Bailey's a few lucky occasions), served in a cervoise, Bain De Brugge is a dark, blackish brown with a small tan collar leaving no lace. Fairly still, it has an imposing thickness to it.

Smell is sweet, light citrus, with a fruity berry note and hint of salt. Served cold, the grape really explodes as it warms, fantastic. Once it hit room temperature, there was more of a caramelized sugar vibe.

Taste is very good, a nice rich porter flavor with a hint of indistinct spices (in fact, I'd guess it was just from noble hops if not cited as spices on the menu). Light grape esters, raisin notes, but with a touch of bitter dark malt, probably black patent, which gives it a charred acridness, not to be mistaken with roast. Very nice Belgian Porter!

Mouthfeel is very creamy, with a medium-light body, lighter then you'd expect for a strong porter, it definitely has that Belgian digestability.

Drinkability is high. A great beer from a style rarely if ever seen state-side, it makes very rare appearance at the lodge, and every time I lobby Art/Ron/Curtis (who's last name probably indicates this is his baby) to brew more!

Sampled at the brewery with Ron and Curtis, had this at the actual bar heading into the actual brewery itself, reviewed from notes, color is dark brown, one inch light tan head that is pretty creamy, good retention, some lacing here too, aroma consists of Belgian yeast, roasted malts, cocoa nibs, vanilla, toffee, and burned caramel, flavor starts off with sweet yeast, chocolate malts in the middle, lots of roasted accents in the finish but still a sweetness in the finish, gets more chocolately over time, sweet and roasted mouthfeel, medium bodied, could drink a glass ot two of this but might get a little heavy after a few, pretty sweet which causes it to be more on the filling side, would like to drink again, they told us this was a Belgian-style porter and judging it by that style it was pretty spot on and just a little weird for me to full grasp, still very unique and enjoyable, recommended
