look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Appearance- Very similar to Sang Noir. Poured with slightest sliver of head which appears to almost be pure cotton white. The body ranges from a muddy brown to an intense burgundy that has light hints of a bourbon hue when held up to the light. A decent amount of lacing is left behind.

Nose- Very vinous and sweet- really shows that it was aged in port barrels. Heavy amounts of cherry. Some notes are fairly basic cherry while some show tart qualities. Hints of stone fruits (peach and apricot) hide in the background.

Taste- Not as complex as Sang Noir but still quite delightful. The oak is much more muted and the bourbon of Sang Noir is replaced by more of a port or sherry character. Not quite as complex as Sang Noir either- this is very heavy on the cherries and cycles through different aspects of this note as I taste it. Most of the flavor profile is an interesting take on this one aspect. Notes of both red and white wine with lots of fleshy stone fruit. There is a slight bit of straw, funk, and grass on the scant linger. Some hint of stinky cheese as well. Very mild and well balanced with enough complexity to keep the palate interested.

Mouthfeel- Fairly light bodied with lots of syrup to the texture. Mild carbonation with a slight tingle. A bit of a dry finish but not completely dry.

Drinkability- Very accessible sour. No heat at all. 4.75 is pretty steep for a 3 ounce pour. 34 bucks for a 750 mL is fairly ridiculous as well. This was bought mostly as trade bait.

Overall- Very good, solid sour. Definitely worth a try if you can find a fairly cheap pour.
