2009 project in a snifter type glass. This beer is amazing.

A. Deep, deep ruby/mahogany. Fairly clear where you can actually see trough the darkness. Off white head is a thin layer of tiny soda bubbles, dissipating to next to nothing.

S. Lactic, lots of sour cherries, a little bit of funky barrel, a little red wine

T. Lots of lactic tartness, lots of tart cherries but with a little residual sweetness, just a faint red wine barrel. Not very complex but absolutely delicious. If I had to complain, id ask for a little more funk to balance the sweetness and add to the complexity.

M. Medium-light carbonation, medium bodies until the finish, where a nice slickness coats the mouth, leaving a lingering flavor of tart cherries.

O. First off, the cherry-ness is perfect. Not medicinal, not cloyingly sweet, not overly candylike, but like good ol' Belgian kriek cherries. The beer is fairly one dimensional, but lucky for it (and reeeealy lucky for me), it is an amazing dimension.

2009 Project

Interesting ale for sure. Kind of reminded me of a flanders red with plums and dates, along with a little lactic acid. Was definitely interesting, though I don’t know if I’d call it a winner. It could have been the supplication I had prior to this skewing my thoughts, so I’ll certainly have to revisit, but I just felt as though it was a little flat and not very complex. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor was decent, but it never evolved as it warmed and stayed somewhat muted.
