Another winner from Cascade. This is a really nice cool weather gose. Lots of funky fruit wafts out and assails the olfactory. Has a mulled wine character, lots of spice, orange, clove. Very nice.
Palate confirms with sour fruit, spice, funk. Pretty nicely balanced with a finish that lingers and demands another taste.
Worth trying if it's on tap. They also have a warm version that one of my friends enjoyed (not always). I guess they warm it with fresh fruit and spice for an even crazier finished brew in the cold weather!

On tap at Monk's Kettle. Labeled on the board as "fall gose," but autumn, fall, what's the difference? I mean if I said, "I just took a really bad autumn down the stairs," I'm sure you'd know what I was talking about.
Brilliant clear reddish color with a white head that leaves a ring around the glass.
Aroma is very fruity and mildly tart. I get strawberry and cherry.
Flavor is also tart and somewhat fruity. Wheat, sour cherry, and red berries stand out.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation and only mild acidity.
Drinkability is really good. So this is what a gose is, is it? I may need to try more of these, as this one is pretty good.

This beer is fantastic.
Rusty, clear red-orange color. Light head, not much lace. Although, that might have to do with the fact that it was in a sampler glass.
Smells of sweet berry and citrus. Orange and blackberry come to mind.
The taste is fruity with a definite sourness. Orange and nectarine start it with a slight spice. Chili powder? Then you get the salty top notes that linger a bit to the crisp finish.
Light with a notisable carbonation.
Definitly drinkable. I could drink it all freakin' day. Wonderful.

On tap at the barrel room today.
The beer pours a honey amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is impressive, showing honey, ginger and juniper berries. On the palate, the beer is lightly sweet initially, but with some delightful light sour coming on at the finish. The mid palate delivers orange and cherry flavor, with a hint of caramel. This is just delicious. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good flavor intensity and a fairly long finish. Drinkability is exceptional, with the alcohol completely undetectable. Very nice beer...

On draught at the brewpub, served into a slender tulip, Autumn Gose is a chill hazed auburn with a nice, creamy sand colored head leaving scattered, foamy lace.
Smell is at first rather soft, as it's served too cold for my taste, with overipe oranges, salt and a hint of cider vinegar developing as it warms. Very appetizing.
Taste is very complex and satisfying, with a nice balanced spiciness tempered by the enjoyable saltiness. A nice lacto pucker and amber malt sweetness, a hint of spices and a touch fruity, this has huge flavor for the size. Wow.
Mouthfeel is slick, medium light and dry.
Drinkability is extremely high. This is a great beer, extremely complex, with the sourness and spices, but all restrained enough to make it very sessionable. I found this to be much better then their summer gose, although I was not in a situation to study that one as well.

If I have this right, the Autumn Gose is a wheat beer brewed with orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. It gets a primary fermentation with a regular saccharomyces ale yeast and a secondary with lactobacillus bacteria. Conceptually, it sounds strange, and the use of salt sounds unappetizing. But this is a wonderful sour ale.
The Raccoon Lodge serves the Gose in a slender goblet. It emits an inviting sour pungence. Tiny bubbles rise from a sexy, gold-auburn body with a rimmed head. The taste is lacto- sour but not overpowering. The spices add a mild complexity but don't feature prominently. The overall expression is one of sharp, succinct lines that hold one's attention. A measure of cherry cola taste can also be discerned.
Classy and beautiful. A rarity I could drink this all night.

On tap at Raccoon Lodge 11/27 12 oz. pour.
Reddish amber clear brew, not much off-white head, decent carbonation, no lacing. Fruit and spice in nose, no hops present. Cardamon, nutmeg cinnamon, a bit of nuttiness on the taste, citrusy from orange peel, though a bit of lemony esters present, very tasty. Really dry finish, very tart. Another winner from Northwest's finest sour brewer. An unbelievable treat, extremely drinkable, worth seeking out, and really looking forward to the release of winter version (with cranberries!) in near future.

A - Pours a fairly dark-for-the-style deep amber with a thin head and just a slight bit of lacing.
S - Mild tart notes. Fruity like strawberry and peach. Hint of wheat.
T - A wonderful sour - good fruitiness, mostly peach and cherry on the tongue. Nicely tart but not truly sour in my book, nor vinegary, which is good for my preference. Salt is not readily detectable until after you swallow. Lick your lips or inside of your gums and you can taste the salt left over. Nice balance and a real winner on taste.
M - Light carbonation and medium body. Slightly slick feeling on the tongue. No real acidic bite.
D - Sky high if you like a mild sour. Low ABV would make this sessionable, and the flavors are simply enjoyable. Wonderful on tap.
