Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass at Smoke & Barrel DC, for the dc bottle share. From notes.
An amber to deep orange body, quite cloudy without much head presented.
Nose has a nice sense of mild fruit, that really goes to crab-apple territory. Highly dominating crab apples with a good tart sense. Not much else, but it's at least a good nose.
The crab-apple tartness does come off quite big in the palate but not overboard. There's some nice mild buttery mixing in the mid palate with the apple which hits really nicely. Some subtle funk notes come off on the finish also. Feel is about par for the course just a hint of wet but easy drinkability.
Overall it reminds me of a bit of apple butter character and a toned down Weyerbacher Riserva. Still decent even for a one tricky pony like sense.

on tap at the brewery, Portland
Leathery brown-ruby with pink film that trails.
Big sour woody nose with balsamic and pomegranate hits.
Deep red fruit - currant, sour raspberry - with hints of chocolate, wood, vanilla, bourbon, and cherry stone.
Tart finish and lean linger.
Lt-medium, dry, a bit of cream, no trace of heat.
Lots of complexity. Wood and cherry are down in the mix, making it that much more harmonious. Well-integrated sour - if not quite magical.

2012 project. First beer for me from Cascade based on high recommendations from fellow BAs. Very pleasant aroma and for the first half of the bottle could not stop from enjoying it before every taste. Loved the sweetness and sour cherries. Very easy to drink and the 9.8% snuck up on me. I'm so glad I had ordered more than one. Can't wait to try this brew again after some aging on my other bottles. Enjoyed it so much I burnt my dinner.
