2011 vintage, picked up at a bottle shop in Seattle. Tasted 26 June 2012, reviewed from notes.
Pours a deep nutty brown color, fairly clear but with a faint yeast haze, even with a gentle pour. A more vigorous pour yields a yeast-clouded glass (and a slightly different taste). One finger of yellowish head, good retention and very nice lacing.
Smell is full of lovely tart cherries. It has a very pleasant fruity sour aroma, not acrid at at all. Full, balanced, and potent.
Taste is fantastic. A wonderful blend of sour cherries, with a touch of sweetness for balance, that gently flows into a slightly mouth-puckering straight-up sour. I love the transitions, as the cherries and light sweetness fade away, leaving the acidity and sour to come to the fore. A very, very tasty sour, and one of the best I've had the pleasure of tasting.
Mouthfeel is just as it should be. Solid but delicate, with the high alcohol providing some lift. Carbonation is medium-high, as it should be for a sour (IMO), and keeps things dancing on the palate.
This is simply an outstanding fruit sour. It has a hefty dose of sour, but it's not enamel-stripping, and the real highlight is the balance. One of the best that I've had, and I really can't think of how I would improve on it. Delicious.

on tap at the brewery, Portland
Leathery brown-ruby with pink film that trails.
Big sour woody nose with balsamic and pomegranate hits.
Deep red fruit - currant, sour raspberry - with hints of chocolate, wood, vanilla, bourbon, and cherry stone.
Tart finish and lean linger.
Lt-medium, dry, a bit of cream, no trace of heat.
Lots of complexity. Wood and cherry are down in the mix, making it that much more harmonious. Well-integrated sour - if not quite magical.

2012 project. First beer for me from Cascade based on high recommendations from fellow BAs. Very pleasant aroma and for the first half of the bottle could not stop from enjoying it before every taste. Loved the sweetness and sour cherries. Very easy to drink and the 9.8% snuck up on me. I'm so glad I had ordered more than one. Can't wait to try this brew again after some aging on my other bottles. Enjoyed it so much I burnt my dinner.
