Previously called 'Mouton Rouge'...
Sang Rouge is a blend of sour red ales aged in select red wine barrels and oak puncheons for up to 24 months. Highlighting the depth and complexity of our base red ale without the influence of additional fruits or spices, Sang Rouge serves as the foundation of our “Sang” series. This rare project features notes of roasted malts, dried currants, aged red wine and toasted oak

Purchased as a single 12oz can from The Blue Door for $2.50. Poured into a tulip glass.
L - Very dark - yet clear - mahogany, with a one-finger frothy tan head. Pretty good lacing.
S - Cherry, oak, and earth. Slight vanilla.
T - The sourness hits you like a bus! Definitely getting currant, cherry, and oak. A sort of subtle floral note covers most of the earthiness of this brew. Cavendish tobacco. A dry birch beer finish. On the sweeter side most of the time.
F - Full-bodied, with little carbonation. A definite sipper. Smooth.
O - The alcohol is definitely well-hidden in it. A definite competition for most Flanders Reds. Complex, but not overwhelming. Definitely recommend.

Flander red ale meets american oak.
It pours a complety clean reddish brown body with a small white head
The nose is amazing. Direct tingle frome the sourness, then red berries notes, then a huge and nice vanilla, toasted coconut note from the oak. It's acetic but nothing overwhelming. Some spicy wine notes too. Amazing
The taste follows with an attack on the fruity acidity, some wood notes. Definetely less complex than the nose but very balanced.
The carbonation is fine, the mouthfeel is quite dry
Great stuff

750 ml bottle labeled as 2013 project, 8.4% abv. Taken in a snifter glass, June 3, 2021.
Reddish brown colored liquid with only a thin film of light brown foam as a cap. A few spots of lacing at most. A wine-like look.
Cherry stands out as the primary aroma. There are also signs of blackberry and soured dark fruits. Oak, red wine, and sour soaked malt round out the aroma.
Cherry wine, dry wood, spicy sour candy, a light note of malt vinegar.
Feel is tart, sour, and tingly medium bodied - all on the mellow side of its style.
Eight additional years of aging seem to have served it well. Flavorful and complex.

Ok - like my optometrist, I see you, Sang Rouge. And do you “sang” to Raul? A lil. This one is pretty clean like a tortoise after a rare Death Valley rain fall. At the same time, it’s a bit too roasty/dry. There is wonderful fruit up in there, but it hits a bit hard like Bruce Smith on a Sunday.
Peace!

Ruby-tinged brown with no head; winter spice, oak, cranberry, carob, and raspberry on the nose; wood, a blast of red wine vinegar, pomegranate, a slice of oaky vanilla, and red grapefruit to finish; lean, tart, and snappy.

Huge winey oak nose - for better or worse, the taste follows this. Gradually opens into mellower red berry. Dunno if I don’t like Flanders red well enough, but I had trouble getting into this one, though it did grow on me…
