Pours dark red with a copper head a finger thick. Aroma has cherry skins, mildly tart, lactic, is vinous. Tastes of cherries, moderately sour with some acetic notes, caramel, earth, leather. Body is medium and silky with smooth carbonation. Lovely feel on this beer and pretty tasty stuff.

This beer was part of a great tasting that included seven bottled Cascade sours.

The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is dark fruit with a good mix of tartness. The flavor is oak, tannins and dark fruit. The beer is very dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. One of my favorite Cascade sours.

Cascade Sang Rouge is a nice sour red ale that I was lucky enough to get a taste of. The beer was refreshing and balanced with a nice tannic oak edge with an aged balsamic vinegar acidity and sweetness. The malt flavors were subdued but the slightly bready and caramel flavors did contribute to the beer. I've had more complex and flavorful reds but this was very nice

A pour equal parts dark brown and dark red. . . I was expecting more red, the liquid had no head. Aroma, fits the complex bill, lots going on here I could tell, made the '9 blend' description seem to come to life, plenty of tart and sour aroma, as well as cherry.

Can't tell, but a good fruit quotient of cherry and blackberry may have been used here, or at some point in one of the base beers used in the blend. Sourness holds up, not their most sour or greatest beer, but its definitely a damn good one. Acidic to the max. A little better than the kriek, this one isn't as sweet, this is even more sour cherry pie. As usual, the high alcohol is covered nicely.

Drank on tap at Beachwood's Sourfest '11.

Reviewed as a Flanders Red Ale. Poured from a caged-and-corked 750mL bottle into my White Birch flute/tulip.

Light cola colored body with brilliant cerise highlights. Very active, soapy beige head fizzes away to nearly nothing. Gossamer thin lacing.

Aroma is delicate - light cherry-ish esters, fresh-cut leather, and faint berry notes with a hint of Fruit Loops.

Tart palate entry, just short of bracing. Lightly vinuous, with a touch of tangerine, kumquat, and pinot gris. Faint tannins, moderately oaky, but as if fresh barrels were used (no char). The finish brings to mind cherries, wine grapes, young balsamic vinegar, and a bit of earth (or rather, dust).

Mildly astringent, light-bodied, with a spritzy level of carbonation (though mysteriously, as noted above, no head retention).

Very refreshing despite its shortcomings - no off notes, just lacking depth of flavor. Somewhat disappointing compared to the other offerings from this brewer (which range from good to great among those I've thus far sampled).

Poured from a 750ml corked and caged bottle into a Cantillon Iris glass. Shared with schen9303.

A: Standard pour yields a 1.5 finger off-white fine cream head with awesome retention. Beer is a clear dark purple-red. Lacing is thick and web-like with very good stick. An all-around beautiful beer.

S: Nose is pungent. Oak and a bouquet of sour prunes, plums, cherries, and raspberries. Slight hint of Brett in the back. Very appropriate and enticing but flavors are a bit muddled and not crisp.

T: Opens prunes and plum. Brett funkiness comes in towards the middle, emphasizing the dark fruit tartness and mixing it with barnyard and cobwebs. Sour grows as this one warms. Cherry and raspberry puree towards the end and actually sweetens on the finish with red fruit characteristics. Saliva enducing finish with a lingering puckering aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied and highly carbonated. Oily and thick in the mouth but very abrasive at the edges and tingly all the way down. Sticks to the palate. Messy and sticky finish with a lingering aftertaste.

D: This has to be one of Cascade's top 3 sours. Flavor is spot on and its one hell of an attractive brew. A little too heavy and muddled at times which is the only thing that takes away from it. Still though, definitely worth seeking out.

750ml bottle, split and paired with some homemade pizza on a blizzard night

appearance: served in my great lakes chalice - muddy brown body, garnet highlights, creamy beige head with strong retention

smell: tart cherry, big oak notes, balsamic, wild yeast, vinous notes

taste: nice wild ale - tart cherries, sharp woody traits from the oak, nice acidity, raspberry balsamic, vinous, cocoa. Solid beer - wish i had access to this brewery (soon i suspect)

mouthfeel: acidic, tart, nice carbonation

drinkability: good

Had a 750ml bottle at the Verdugo in tulip glass.

A: Dark orange/reddish color with a small head. Nice bubble action in the glass

S: Sweet and sour cherries ... oak, vinegar, some dark fruits. I like the sweet and sour smell alot.

T: Sour vinegary taste upfront followed by a nice light sweetness in the background. Slight oak flavor as well.

M: Coats mouth well and plenty of carbonation that dances on the tongue.

D: This went down way to easy ... when I reached for another pour it was gone.

Overall, sourness didn't bombard my taste buds but I really enjoyed the sweet and sour tastes from this one. Must try for you sour lovers!

750ml bottle shared by chswimmer on BA. Labeled as Sang Rouge, but I understand this also goes by "Mouton Rouge." Why the hell would you name a beer after that awful movie? Nicole Kidman is ugly.

Pours deep dark red with a fading off-white head.

Aroma is great and sour with cherries, red wine, and other dark fruits.

Flavor is also very good with cherry, vinegar, red wine, and a little spice. Medium sourness level.

Nice acidity on the palate with medium body, but just a little watery on the finish.

Drinkable and good overall, but I didn't think it was quite as good as others thought it was.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Deep ruby red. Yellowish cream head.

Smell - Light balsamic acidity. Cherries. Some oak.

Taste - Much stronger malt up front but it is overpowered rapidly by acetic sourness. Strong balsamic flavor. Gets oaky and dry in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Dry, oaky, vinous finish. The sourness becomes strongest right at the end.

Overall - Authentic oud bruin flavors with standard authentic pitfalls as well, in my opinion.

Review from notes, got this from LarryG in a trade, enjoyed this about six weeks ago...

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 3 fingers of rapidly falling mocha colored head. minimal head retention & lacing

S: Sourness, cherries & leather, all fade a bit as this warms

T: Cherries & raspberries mix up front, along with grassyness. More of the same as this warms, the cherry really asserts itself, dryness, & some persimmons & figs hiding in the background, along with balsamic vinegar & & vanilla. Finishes dry with puckery & tart cherries

MF: Medium bodied, fairly smooth carbonation. Well put together, nice balance for all that is going on here

This is a world class offering IMO, so much going on here. This definitely makes me want to seek out more offerings from thse guys!

This one was a part of cmrillo’s 40 Beers* @ 40 Birthday Bash! Shared by BRoss242! 2009 Vintage! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a reddish brown with a half finger light tan head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, cherry, funk, tart, and tart cherry. The flavor was of sweet malt, cherry, funk, tart, and tart cherry. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. I was really happy to see this one show up at the tasting as it was quite enjoyable and fairly refreshing to boot. It was really well balanced with a little favoritism to the tart aspect. Cascade has been doing really good things with their sours and this one is no exception. If you have tried this one, you already know. If not, what the Hell are you waiting for?

The perfect aroma is sweet candi sugar with just a touch of funk! The color is amber with a red hue and light tan head. . The flavor of a crisp sour red ale that goes down smooth with no pucker. The body is a bit light but overall delicious. Cascade has hit another sour on the head!

This is a beautiful looking beer...please throw some light behind this and take a look. Smell is fruit-forward - cherry, raspberry, cranberry. Taste - tart but not overwhelming on the sour notes. Smooth oak on the finish. Acidic bite is more subdued than many sours.

This is undoubtedly one of the best new world wilds. It's tough to match RR but this is pretty close.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear reddish color ale with a nice thick bubbly head with good retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of sour oak notes with treat cherries and light acidic finish is quiet enjoyable. Taste is a very nice mix between some tart notes with definitive oak traces and a light acidic finish. Sour cherries notes are easily noticeable. Great complex sour from Cascades yet again though not necessarily different then some of there other beers.
