Orange with a fleeting white head. Clarity is good, though I was expecting more cloudiness from a gose.

Fruity nose, specifically stonefruit and apples. Some spiciness too, with a nice sweet and sour dynamic.

Tastes like red apple and peach, subtle saltiness with a pleasantly sweet backbone. Little bit grainy, little bit lactic - quite balanced for the style and pretty tasty, though I couldn't drink a ton of it.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy straw color, topped by one finger of snow white head. Head retention is decent, as is the lacing.

Smell: Smells very herbal. Cloves and lavender stand out more than anything. I also get some light citrus and a small amount of lactic character as well. Interesting.

Taste: Again, interesting. The herbal character is noticed more so in the taste than in the smell. Very strong lavender and clove. Digging a bit deeper I also get a light lemony tartness and lactic character. Not bad and an interesting try, but I would prefer if they toned the herbs down a bit.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is quite nice. Light bodied with pretty high, spritzy carbonation. Pretty refreshing. Overall, I thought this beer was pretty good but has some flavors that were a bit overdone. Still, I'm glad I got to try this style from Cascade. Hopefully I can make it back in a different season and try another gose from them, as they sound quite good.

On tap poured into a snifter during City Beer Store's anniversary party. This was my first taste of gose style beer.

Beer poured a clear golden yellow with a thin but foamy white head that left a decent amount of lacing on the interior of the glass with some swirling, though no additional head formed with agitation. Good number of small bubbles slowly ascend from the bottom of the glass.

Nose is mostly floral, earthy and mineral notes, with some lemon peel, and lemongrass. More floral and mineral than anything else though, perhaps from the chamomile and salt? Very light aroma that took a bit of work to smell anything past the mineral nature of the beer.

Taste very closely resembles the nose, very earthy when it hits the tongue, like mineral water, pretty much. Some of the lemon peel and lemongrass makes shows up a little later, with some biscuit malt sweetness. Finish is light, lemongrass and minerals, but lingers for several minutes on the tongue.

Light bodied with plenty of gentle small bubbles. Very refreshing beer that I wouldn't mind having on a hot summer day.

Appears somewhat hazy yellow with a thin white head.

It smells of herbal tea like spices, I get a bit of a lemon smell and a bit of a sour smell. There is also expectantly a slightly salty smell.

It tastes of tea like herbs. I get a refreshing acidic flavor and a bit of a floral pollen type of a taste. The beer ends with a salty finish that is balanced by a pleasant sourness.

The mouthfeel is light and crisp.

I prefer some other seasonal gose's that cascade makes as I do not think the floral flavor adds much to the salty and acidic flavor of the beer. However it is still a nice beer.

A nicely golden lemon hue with a hint of cloudiness. ample carbonation fuels a creamy head with good retention that leaves behind surprisingly minimal lacing.

aroma is intensely floral and complexly piquant. lavender, a hint of mint, a hint of muskmelon.

Taste is equally complex, with a melange of fruit, ranging from mandarin orange to honeydew melon. then some floral notes, not far from herbes de provence. Subtle hints of salt carry a subtle and very pleasant dry tartness.

Mouth is on the verge of slick, but just smooth enough to work for me. ample carbonation combines with the hint of salt and the slightly drying tart to create a complex mouthfeel.

I'm liking this one... not quite as vibrant as some goses I've sampled, but this one is a solid example... and I love lavender and chamomile and floral notes in general, so that probably doesn't hurt either.

tasted 6/2/10:
A tantalizing beverage offered by the good people of the Raccoon Lodge. Had this on tap at the brewery and managed to snag a growler hours later at some distant land. Lavender and a slight hint of chamomile aromas, a little je ne sais quoi as well. This seems to be a favored style of theirs and they seem to put great effort into their melange of flavors. It is salty, a hint tart, definitely flowery with that lavender and chamomile. Effing enjoyable.
Some may say I sullied the taste by drinking the last portion with a raw egg after reading posts on here about such behavior. But I feel this was entirely appropriate to the salty style. My regret is that it wasn't for breakfast before work. Silly me.

On draught at the brewpub, served in a cervoise, Spring Gose is a somewhat spritzy dark gold with an off-white head that quickly dissipates, leaving no lace.

Smell is very floral, perfume like from the flowers. Pretty nice, a light sweetness, it rounded out nicely with some air, bumping it up a 1/2 point.

Taste is similar, the chamomile is maybe is more assertive then the lavender, and is overall too floral for me. Not really salty or lactic either, which I enjoy about this style. This is my least favorite of their seasonal gose's by far.

Mouthfeel has an oily slickness, but a bit crisp, with a medium body.

Drinkability is not that great, to perfumey with all the oils and adjuncts, and not of the salt and tartness I expect from a gose. A disappointing miss, but not one that should temper their creativity and experimentation.

A:Poured a nice lighet golden color with good carbonation and a nice white head

S: At first it was funk, sour, horseblanket and then some fruits.

T: A light funk, sour with some straw, watermelon and cantaloupe

M: Smooth, tasty and pleasing to the palate

D: Indeed. I would go for it again.

Served in straight pint glass. The color was a clear dark applejuice yellow with no head, thus no retention or lacing.

The aroma was very subdued, with light grain and soft salt scents. The tastes were also mostly subdued grain flavors, with a lingering salt taste.

The body was OK, but a little sticky. Drinkability was decent but not special. Overall, a decent introduction to the style, but this brewery makes better examples.
