It's hard not to feel like a kid walking into a candy store when you walk into the barrel room. Today's new and exciting sour is the tangerine... right out of the barrel!
The beer pours a bright orange color with pretty good head retention and lacing. The nose is your pretty typical Cascade outrageous, in this case consisting of vanilla, tangerine, wine and light sour funk. The flavor profile replicates the nose, with a bit more sour than I was expecting from the nose. It tends to dominate everything else, with just a hint of vanilla, sweet tangerine and wine (the wine flavor is fairly pervasive). Mouthfeel is soft with a fairly long finish in this lightly carbonated beer. The beer finishes with a wash of sour and wine. As is typical with Cascade, this drinks more like a 5% abv. beer as opposed to a sour with more than 7% alcohol.
While I've had better wild ales from Cascade, this is another excellent, well made sour from the talented folks at Cascade.
