This NW style sour wheat ale was barrel aged for up to 12 months with cranberries, orange peel and cinnamon. Soft aromas of cranberries and light floral notes start this beer off. Tart, dry notes of sweet cranberries with hints of wild strawberries on the palate give way to a pronounced dryness and a lingering finish of cranberries and spice.

April 2017: 750 ml corked & caged bottle, as Cascade Cranberry Oak Aged Northwest Sour Ale, ale aged in oak barrels with cranberries and spices, 2016 Project. ABV is 6.6%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Peach coloured beer, huge off-white head with a peachy hue. Strong sourish aroma of cranberries and spices. The flavour is moderately sour, far from extreme. Again notes of cranberries, hints of mild spices.

A 750ml corked and caged bottle, 2016 project. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy copper orange colour with a big more than three finger off white head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: Funky, oak, vanilla, cranberries, orange, cinnamon, leather and spices.
Taste: Sour, tart, berries, orange, cinnamon, oak, herbal and spices.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Nice complexity, good funk, and one of the better Cascade beers I’ve tried.

A: apple juice with a touch of redness. Clear and clean looking, some visible carbonation.
S: it's easy to tell it's a sour! A sharp fruitiness comes through. Sweet bubble gum, and a jolly rancher (watermelon flavor?). Fresh cut oak also coming through. A little cinanmon?
T: it's a home run. I appreciate very funny beers but this isn't super funky. Bright mandarin, cranberry tartness coming through. Very bright flavors.
M: it's a great body. Medium-full in the mouth with the carbonation adding some heft. A nice dose of prickly carbonation but not too much
O: overall I think this is a very successful sour ale. I am about over barrel aging everything, but then I have a beer like this that shuts me up. I'm rating this pretty highly, buds

2015 project. Cork and Caged 750 poured into 12oz tulip. Poured a clean, clear light brown color with about a half-inch of white (with a slight pink tinge) head that had moderate retention and light lacing.
The aroma was mostly tartness, and grain, with some oak and cranberry in the background.
Similar on the palate, with the cranberry showing through more, and the grain stepping back a bit.
The body was light and crisp, with good carbonation throughout, and had a dry finish.
Drinkability was good, all the flavors combined nicely to keep things interesting. Overall, another fine job from Cascade. Worth your time if you see it.
