Oct. 2018: 750 ml bottle, 2015 Project, ABV is 7.1%. Orange colour, large head, slightly off-white. Unpleasant aroma of solvent, stale strawberry jam in the background, Sour flavour, notes of vinegar more than strawberry, with the terrible aroma lurking in the background. Return to the Norwegian importer!

2014 project held up nicely!
Look-dark orange body with a 2 finger head the disappears fast.
Smell-faint strawberries and vanilla beans. Huge sour notes
Taste- this held up with the best of them!! Huge raw strawberries and slight vanilla at the end
Feel-dry as a bone!

Hey I've never reviewed this? Let's do it.

Comes in a mixture of orange, amber, pink hue backdrop, 1/3" off white head also with some pink vibration to its outer edge. Strawberry edge, does have a bit of that plastic like aspect in the nose that is common with strawberry beers. Notoriously tough fruit to brew with. Vanilla contributes to that feeling.

Whoa boy, yeah its sour and acidic despite the vanilla bean looking to smooth it out. Still enjoyable, but there is also a slight alcohol sting, Cascade really seems to amp up their abv on their beers comparatively. Carbonated well. Band aid notes develop in the mouthfeel along the lines of the plastic notes in the nose. A little bit of blue cheese and hay notes on the backend as well.

Its good, and tends to be better than your average strawberry beer, for me its still Ichigo Highway as my all time fave, but this is a decent backup option since that one is long gone absent the rarity tucked away in a cellar.

A 750ml corked and caged bottle, 2015 project. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.

Appearance: A lightly hazy orange pinkish colour with a big two finger white head that dissipated quickly while leaving only sparse lacing.

Aroma: Tart, strawberry, jammy, oak, light funk.

Taste: Sour, tart, strawberry, viney herbal notes, vinegar, oak, and maybe a splash of vanilla with light funk on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with strong prickly carbonation and acidic harshness.

Overall: Strawberry aroma come through nicely, but taste was quite vinegary and acidic which made it harsh and overpowers a lot of the fruit there might have been.

Bottle purchased from Hop City, Birmingham, Al

Appearance: Slightly cloudy amber color with a slight reddish hue with a modest sized off white head that dissipated quickly.

Smell: Tart strawberries with some moderate funk. The strawberries show up nicely but are countered by the funk notes.

Taste: Tart strawberries make themselves known and there is a touch of grassy/hay notes. The barrel provides a touch of oak notes. The beer dries up nicely in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation.

Overall: A nicely done AWA. I’ve enjoyed all the Cascade beers I’ve had.

750ml bottle. Caged and corked bottle. 2015 Project vintage.
Murky amber/orange colored boy. Fizzy white bubbles upon pouring, what is left is a bubble fed ring. No lacing.
Aroma of strawberry, vanilla, and oak barrel.
Sour taste of strawberry fruit with vanilla. Oak barrel is there too. Dry at the end.
Medium mouth feel. Close to a tooth scraper. Good carbonation.
The strawberry attempts to inject some sweetness but the oak and vanilla tamp this down, which allows the sour aspect to dominate. Quite acidic. Behind it all there is some funk. Different overall, but well worth exploring.

2015 Project, draft pour. Loosa Brews, Tuscaloosa AL. Kegged 10.25.16.

Pours a deep, burnt amber yellow flecked with peachy pink. . Low carb, but a small soft ring of head settles around the taster glass.

The nose is bursting with tart, underripe strawberries and toasted oak. The barrels really impart a subtle but noticeable smokiness to the aroma. A tinge of horseblanket funk hits the nose on the back end.. subtly complex but so nice.

Again, those oak barrels are the main attraction in the flavors as well. A present smoke, coupled with a very tart but familiar strawberry flavor. Not getting much if any vanilla anymore, but it was an adjunct that I don’t feel was ever necessary in the first place. Mildly herbaceous in the finish.

Thin, tart , and dry, with a low seltzery carbonation and a smooth finish.

Tons of strawberry on the nose, nice funk and sour. More of a fruity melange on the palate.

Delicious, but probably a let down for people hoping for huge strawberry flavor.

The body is super shiny like an amber gem with a creamy, persistent film and a thick collar with raised edges.

This smells exactly like a jar of organic strawberry jam I had in the fridge that went super funky and had this odd, airy and nutty aroma to it. It's really unusually intense.

Taste translates almost identically, but sweeter, with a green, herbal accent via a thin to medium body with light carbonation, a slightly stinging sour exhale and a dry finish.

I've had very similar experiences with a number of well-regarded strawberry sours now. I'm just not sure I really like what happens when strawberries are used in this style, but maybe the age funked this up even more!
