Thanks to JealousChalice for sharing this one at mrbubbler's "end of the world" tasting.

Pours a clear dark red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is solely of sour and tart cherry aromas. Taste is much the same with an earthy flavor and and acidic finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Big thanks to boralyl for getting this out my way. Served in a Cascade goblet. Pours a very dark red, looking almost exactly like red wine. The nose similarly has a lot of red-wine-type character. Some tannins along with mild cherry. Flavor is earthy and slightly fruity. Very low carbonation, and only a moderate amount of acidity.

Darker red-red-amber pour with a bead of bubbles around the perimeter of the surface. Tart aroma, cherries, some vinous, acetic, and lactic qualities. More of this in the taste, sour/tart cherry, red wine, earthy barrel wood, leather, and some acetic acid, with some spicy yeast elements coming through. Pretty nice stuff from Cascade, as usual. Medium body, lower carbonation, and quite enjoyable for the style.

2012 Project

A - Pours a deep burgundy-red with a fizzy tan-purple head that quickly moves to the edges.

S - Tart cherry and oak woodiness.

T - Tart cherry with a touch of sweetness, some barrel characteristics - wood and funk.

D - Good carbonation with a medium body.

O - Tart cherry and barrel. Nothing really surprising here.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Bright blood red. No head. Just a few stray bubbles.

Smell - Wow, cherries. Cherry pie sweet and tart aroma. Malty and kinda musty.

Taste - More sour, but it's mostly sour cherry sourness. Less sweet than the smell suggests. Musty and grainy malts more prominent. Sour, but it dies down with the malty sweetness.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation. Medium heavy, even a little syrupy.

Overall - Excellent cherry flavor. If you're into the intense fruit beers, this is good stuff.

750ml bottle, split, hill farmstead stemware

from notes

"This NW style sour ale is the Cerise Nouveau of cherry beers. It's a blend of red ales aged in oak barrels for up to eight months, then aged on fresh Bing cherries for an additional three months. "

Dark. More sweet than sour, really. Balsamic. Layers and layers of cherries - nowhere near as complex as sang noir/rouge/royal. In the endless array of fruit-forward Cascade beers, this wasnt one of the better ones.

On tap at the Barrel House yesterday.

Deep red brown with a light pink head. Deep, fresh cherry aroma with a blend of Bing and black cherries, lactic sourness and vanilla. Very nice. The palate opens sour, lactic with a blend of cherries and a little bit of lime. Tannic, this beer is super lactic, moderately vinous. Solid stuff.
