Out of the live barrel at the barrel house.

The beer pours a blackish brown color with fairly good head retention and light lacing. The nose on this bad boy is just mind blowing, as I pick up chocolate, light boubon, vinegar, mustard, vanilla and a hint of caramel. The sour component was pretty intense on the nose, but on the palate it was nearly more than I could take. The sour and vinegar really dominate on the palate, though I still pick up considerable chocolate and vanilla as well. Nevertheless, the fairly sweet flavor components in this beer are completely overwhelmed by the intense vinegar and sour (sour lovers will swoon over this one). Mouthfeel is fairly full, with a long finish that ends with a gush of sour and light chocolate and vanilla. Alcohol is barely an afterthought in this beer, though I was starting to feel it by the end of my glass.

A great beer, no doubt, but the sour component in this beer really wore on me after a while. The acidity level seemed to be very high in this one, and was starting to give me some heartburn near the end. Just can't handle these super sour beers.
