On tap for Beachwood Sour Fest at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, CA.
Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour and tart with vanilla, fruit, and grain aromas. Taste is much the same with vanilla and marshmallow flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some interesting aromas and flavors that are fairly similar to the cereal.

This beer is definitely an anomaly and I'm not exactly sure how Ron Gansberg was able to procure the flavors of Lucky Charms cereal into a barrel-aged sour but somehow he pulled it off. He's a bloody genius for sure. The aroma was marshmellow and the flavor was on par with the aroma. Midway through you get this off the wall cheerio-esque flavor that when combined with the marshmellow characteristics completely reminds me of eating a bowl of Lucky Charms. It finishes with a nice mildly sour bite. Overall I do agree that it was a bit sweet. I like my sours a bit more dry for sure but I love Cascade, their beers, and the genius that is Ron Gansberg. I probably wouldn't order Luckië Charms again, but from a pure novelty standpoint, this one gets top marks and is definitely worth ordering a taster.
