a clean orange/copper pour, TONS of visible carbonation bubbles shooting up quickly, 2 fingers of bright white foam head which dissipated rather slow for the style. aroma of corks, wine barrels, definitely picking up orange, wine-like aroma of grapes, getting a lot of alcohol on the nose, definitely getting a funky overall scent. tart up front, with a very strange flavor profile.. acidic, wine-like, oak/wood barrel, the orange and apricots are subtle... but come forward more as the drink warms up. this is a fantastic tasting sour - very olive/vinegar like in style, so not a great introduction to the style, but holy cow is this thing a fantastic treat for those with experienced taste buds! more tart than it is sour, and more wine-like than it is tart.. so go with that, as my description. high carbonation, light in body (i mean for the abv, this is ridiculously light!) - you cannot taste the alcohol in this at all..

wow - i would LOVE to get some more of their beers.

Big thanks to Scot for opening this one up! It pours the color of semi-ripe, dingy tangerines; opaque and cloudy, as is the case for most Cascade beers (and I guess many wild ales in general). A fizzing head tops it off, the kind of head you'd get from a clear soda - crackling and fleeing within moments of being poured until the top of the orange brew is completely bare.

Pungent apricot notes fill the aroma with a mild onset of tangy orange that slowly creeps in, but never fully makes its way to center stage. Gushing, fleshy and very fruity in character; mildly tart on the nose with a bit of lactic acid, but not quite to the level of Cascade's Apricot ale. A touch of oak and cotton-ish funk on the back-end with a supreme, boozy character that starts to tingle after a few solid whiffs.

Although still very nice, the taste isn't quite as satisfying in the nose. Big apricot fruitiness up-front, mixed with quite a bit of booziness. Not the kind of boozy presence that you'd get from something like a huge imperial stout or barleywine, but large enough to feel just a little out of place in a sour ale. Apricot is the largest fruit component, with much, much lighter hints of orange and peach. Tangerine dream isn't as tangerine-centric as the name would imply.

A slight bit of that wet-blanket, cotton-like funk appears in the end, along with some floral hints... I would assume the hops were dried out for this ale, so I'm not sure where those floral notes are coming from, but it's a nice touch. More rum warmth in the back-end that lingers in the back of the throat for the while. Crackling, snappy mouth feel; medium bodied, relatively large for the style with good heft and a nice creaminess in the latter half.

Tangerine Dream didn't succeed quite like I wanted it to, although it was still tasty. Think of it like a much boozier, less acidic Apricot Ale with a tiny bit of orange (tangerine) thrown in. In that case, I'll just take the Apricot ale and live with the stomach ulcer. Unique, but probably on the lower end of things I've had from Cascade. I guess they've impressed me so much with other offerings that I expect nothing but the best, every time.

A big thanks to Jeff for this one. 750ml corked and caged bottle into Tired Hands stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a foamy 2 finger white head with poor retention. Beer is a cloudy bright orange. No lace, no real legs. Average.

Nose is lightly funky, spritzy and citrusy. Still bright and effervescent with a sweet and tart aroma. Simple but really good.

Opens bright orange zest. Some Brett funk in the middle mixed with more sweet and puckering citrus notes. Orange, tangerine and a light grapefruit tartness towards the back. Lightly booze and very citrus fruit forward right at the finish. A sweet and juicy fruit aftertaste. Very tasty!

Light bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively in the mouth and puckering going down. Accented finish with a filmy, lightly lingering aftertaste. Very aggressive and crisp. Complements the flavor well.

Cascade continues to turn out amazing fruited wild after amazing fruited wild. Tangerine Dream is no exception and I really wish I could've had this one fresh. Definitely worth seeking out.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy orange body. Small white head.

Smell - Citrus, brett, some rum and oak.

Taste - Orange is strong. Astringent and oaky. Rum. Very interesting flavors.

Mouthfeel - Boozy and astringent. Moderate sourness.

Overall - Complex as always. Interesting beer, but not really spectacular.

2011 Vintage poured in to teku glass.

A - Translucent bright orange colour with two fingers of cream coloured head.

S - Toffee, dark caramel, dark fruit and spice flavours are present from the base beer (quad) with a sourness, oak and tangerine aromas also present.

T - Follows the nose. The base beer flavours show up at first with sweet caramel & toffee notes coming through. Spice, oak and a sourness enter mid-palate with apricot and tangerine notes in the finish. The apricot is fresh and juicy. A magnificent mix of the base beer, rum barrel, sour and fruit notes in this beer.

M - Medium body. Dry. Moderate carbonation.
