12oz can poured into a Brooklyn snifter.

A - Pours black and opaque in the glass. a Thick finger of dense and creamy head with a mocha coloring lingers for a minute or two. Thick webs of lacing are left on the glass. Good looking stout.

S - Dark roasted malts up front, cocoa powder, touch of char, hints of licorice. Coffee joins the party especially as the beer begins to warm up a bit. Vanilla presence is marginal.

T - Quite a bit of charcoal and burnt malt up front. Some fruity esters on the fringes. Coffee, roasted malt and bakers chocolate. Heavy on the burnt and heavily kilned flavors but missing some complexity and finer points...a bit one dimensional.

M - Medium-full bodied. Carbonation is a bit on the lower side of the spectrum and quite creamy. Lots of burnt and charcoal flavors that dominate and leave a heavy bitterness after the swallow.

O - Had high hopes for this...stout in a can made with vanilla beans and cocoa nibs...sign me up. A little bit lacking in execution however. Heavy on burnt flavors and missing (or just overpowered?) the complexity and nuances that I was looking for and hoping to find here. Overall, just an average offering for the style...not terrible, but won't send me out looking for more either.

Can poured into a tulip glass, special thanks to ChrisL24481

Appearance: Dark , nice thick head that left nice lacing on the glass. Looks like a great stout

Aroma: I got lots of chocolate and cream. Lots of dark malts. Maybe some vanilla and possible spice?

Taste: Body tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Maybe some coffee/nutty/earthy flavor. I didn't get much hops like others. Tastes like it should be a stronger beer. Last gulp seemed to have a bit more alcohol punch to it

Mouthfeel: medium to full body. Pleasant creamy feel but not overwhelmingly creamy.

Overall: Aptly named dark stout. It has the strong chocolate and malt flavors of some big beers but without the high ABV. Got this in a trade so I'm not sure about the cost but I could easily drink more of this in one sitting. Pleasantly surprised with this one. Complexity you don't expect from a canned beer and very drinkable. Maybe my scores for this are a bit high due to the heavy stouts I've been tasting lately but I really liked this.
