Appearance: moderate carbonation, 1 inch head, opaque, black in color

Smell: cocoa, chocolate, Bosco chocolate syrup

Taste: chocolate, Bosco chocolate syrup, coffee, light vanilla

Mouthfeel: Sweet with a roasty body, medium body, moderate carbonation

Overall: An average to above average export stout. There is not anything bad about this stout, but not much jumps out to me either. That said it was a good sipper that I had a coupe of during a snowy football watching day.

It snowed this morning in Boston and thus something winter-y was needed for tonight.

Appearance- Good thick head with a deep dark body. Not too thick.

Smell- Deep rich stout smell with a subtle hint of cloves.

Taste- Chocolate and coffee with a aftertaste of cloves and spice!

Mouthfeel- I love how this feels when I drink it. The cloves and spice aftertaste brings out the taste that every winter beer should have. It's like biting into a gingerbread cookie.

Overall- I like this beer. It's a really nice stout feel followed by a rich spice that needs to be pared with a night in front of a fire with a warm blanket.

Cheers!

(copied from blog - written January 5, 2013)

Appearance – Pours black with a huge creamy tan head.
Smell – I can’t really put my finger on the smell of it, dominated by chocolate for sure, maybe some burnt/roasted coffee.
Taste – Dry, bitter, roasted malt upon first taste that quickly rolls into a mixture of sweet flavors such as chocolate, vanilla and caramel.

This beer is named after the 1965 Muhammad Ali vs Sonny Liston boxing match in which Louisville born Cassius Clay knocked Liston out within two minutes of the fight's beginning [link]. Appropriately so, this beer looks, smells and tastes so good but, man, if you drink a whole 6 pack, watch out cause you’ll get knocked out like Liston (har har). Really a delicious stout no matter you like dry stouts or sweet ones because it is the best of both worlds — it starts out dry and finishes smooth and sweet. Highly recommended!
