I've never been to this place on a regular day, as it's really just a typical bar on a golf course. However, once a year, this is the venue for Stone Soup, one of my few annual traditions, and they always take good care of us here. Chances are, if you've been here, it's only been for this event. All hail! Wassail!

Ah, The Wet Whistle, brings me back... my old stomping grounds, forgotten love, place to have a beer, shoot a game of 9, get money, get #'s. This place has a bit of it all. (some of which I won't discuss here)

The Whis is smack dab in the middle of a country club inside of a golf course. It's a big building. When you find your way to the actual whis, it's a big room with tall ceilings, a wicked fireplace, pool tables to the back with video games and a U shaped bar at the front seating 20 or so. Alot of swag on the wall with big mirrors and such to spot some other talent when your date is no longer up to par, (no pun intended:) I'll sum up the patronage in a few spirts,

Daytime/afternoon- A bunch of 'fake' uppity people that did not want to 'spring' for a real country club while ordering the special and bringing annoying ass children with them. There are also some pretty cool locals that chill for a beer or two on the sly.

Nighttime- A who's who of local 21-33 year olds that are looking at a sporting event, are trying to get laid, or other things that i will not mention here. There are also some heads that come through for some good suds to but they are few and far between.

Quality in the taps could use a boost, it's a long line from the keg to the spout and that causes some problems over time and I don't taste that's it's properly addressed as it should be. some kegs sit dormant through the lines for days, weeks, months just begging to the patron's "please, give me a whirl, im not that bad."

Service is service is service. It depends on who you get. A lot of hot bartenderesses and waitresses to stare at, just don't expect them to know a thing about the beer they are pouring. But they look nice and jiggle all the way.

A decent selection. I recommend grabbing some lagunitas IPA off the tap as they always seem to have it and people actually drink it, probably the freshest thing always on the tap. Some bottles, don't get the Brooklyn IPA's.

I'll leave the food up to you, It has gotten me through some blurry nights though.

All in all a nice neighborhood spot to have a pint in, engage in debachery, hit on a bunch of women, Dance, play video games, shoot the shit, have sex in, do whatever you want, go out on the deck and relax, hide from the cops, watch TV, complain to the manager about the selection, a place where everybody knows your name, whether you like it or not.

PS. If you guys go into the restroom during the day, listen to what Tupac says and 'Keep Your Head Up."

Been here a couple times, mostly to play pool, swig some session ales and catch whatever game is on. The staff are generally friendly with the exception of a few. What I really like about the venue is the relatively large bar, large outdoor seating area, and two pool tables.

The craft beer selection is the best in the area but unfortunately, that's not saying a whole lot. They do get a bunch of the regionals (victory, sly fox, yards etc...) along with some out of staters. The beers are fairly well priced (usually between $5-6 a pint). The food is your standard Philly pub fare: wings, cheese steaks, salads, pork sandwiches.

I spoke with the purveyor of the Whistle a couple of times and he is really working hard to get a better diversification of brews there which is fantastic. I'd like to see them expand to at least 20 taps (they're at 10 currently). Overall, a solid pub experience that definitely has it's loyal following. Recommended for the game and a couple craft brews. d
