I went in last week while running errands after noting its location a week or so prior. It had a lot of craft adverstising out front which drew me in. Inside, its not very big and two thirds wine focused. They have some interesting warm singles but most didn't match the name on the shelf and were unpriced. The cooler had a decent amount of local Maryland and high profile craft brewers. Prices seemed average or so for MoCo. The register was surrounded by dudes doing lotto and scratchoff stuff so it was a little bit of a pain getting checked out. The store in general was unkempt and hard to move around in. Also, while the selection was decent, there was very little you don't see regularly at similar prices. Not a must stop for me.

I pass by Belby every so often, and go in just to check out what's new. The shop is decent sized, but is pretty cluttered, and does not have a huge amount of room to move. the wine takes up a little over half the shop, and the beer is generally organized by region. Most of the beer is fresh, though they did have a few Festina Peche bottles in November. I will note that when things start to get old they put a good sale on them.

The store owner if friendly and helpful, and is happy to make suggestions. The overall selection is pretty decent, with a good spread of brands, both refrigerated and warm. One thing that stands out is the local focus - prices on stuff like Heavy Seas and DFH are lower than most, and are lower than you would expect considering the ridiculous tax that the county places on beer. This tax, though, is definitely felt on every other item in the store, with beers going for as much as 3-6$ over DC list. For the Montgomery County places, this is one of the best.

Stopped in last Thursday, was fairly impressed. A really good selection of available beers in MD, a wide variety with focus on local beers (Flying Dog, Heavy Seas). I picked up the Sierra Nevada beer camp for $21, which is i think 8 bucks cheaper than Gilly's. Solid Sam Adams selection and even some Oskar Blues, among others. They have multiple cases of beers stacked on top of each other, and then one large shelf full of beer. Pretty cramped conditions, i had to be careful not to knock anything over. They also have a few deli fridges with craft beer in addition to wine.

All in all, a solid store and reasonable prices compared to the gold standard of Rockville, Gilly's.

Don't go if you have kids or are claustrophobic. This place is small and packed (often precariously) with a good selection of beer (they also sell wine but I can't vouch for any of it as I never look). All the expected locals are here including Heavy Seas, Flying Dog, and Dogfish, plus plenty of other options from farther away. Prices are a little high if you are used to non-Montgomery County pricing but are generally lower than most other local places. The staff is extremely friendly and very easy to deal with.

This place is located on Rockville Pike, which if you're not aware, is possibly the busiest road in America. So if you can deal with the 24-7 stop-and-go traffic that you'll undoubtedly experience trying to get here, then it's certainly worth the trip. They have a nice selection of craft brews from local stuff like DFH, Flying Dog, Weyerbacher and Brooklyn to not so local like Oskar Blues. They also have plenty of European stuff. I recently picked up both Spaten and Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfests. The prices seem to be about right. I think everything in Montgomery County gets marked up to some extent, but Belby seems to do so less than some of their competitors. Oh yeah, the staff is always very friendly as well. This has become my go to stop since recently moving to nearby Potomac, MD.
