A: Slightly cloudy near-black colour with noticeable enough hints of deep copper colour. Decent head that retains well and nice to see a dimple forming in the middle of the circle of head.
N: Fairly slight but I'm getting pleasant hints of roasty malts.
T: Pleasant malty characteristics, slight rubbery flavour, could perhaps be improved if there were some hoppiness coming through on the back palate.
M: Good for the style, although could be ramped up to be thicker and hence create the impression of a heavier beer, even if it isn't in terms of ABV or hops.
Overall, good effort but would be improved with additional malt and definitely more hops.

Thanks to BIF bluebetty for this and pours a dark kola hue with a one finger fast vanishing head and hardly any lacing, the smell is roasted malts, dark chocolate, plums and expresso, the mouthfeel is really light bodied and under carbonated with tastes of dark chocolate, milky coffee, dark fruit and finished with a herbal hoppiness and overall its alright but nothing flash cheers.

Had on tap at Paddy's Brewers Market Festival October 2010.
Pours a deep, dark ruby amber. Probably not really tending towards black, but very deep at least. Head is a wonderfully thick and creamy off white, comprised of lovely tight beige bubbles. Looks very decent.
Good caramel on the nose, with a slightly roasted character and a bit of vanilla ice cream sweetness. Mild but fine.
Taste is also smooth, without a lot of roasted bitterness, but with a good slick vanilla and chocolate character. Some bitterness on the back gives a lift than cleanses it out of the roasted darkness. Bit of acetone on the back. Not bad. Feel is frothy throughout but relatively clean.
Smooth and drinkable. It's a pretty decent dark ale. It's not extreme, nor overwhelming, but it ends up pretty tasty.
