Poured from a 750mL bottle into a Teku glass. Bottled 2015.
4/5/4/4.25/4.5
A: Mahogany brown with some effervesence, basically no head,
S: Smells absolutely insane. The beechwood smoke hits first, followed by sharp, lactic Brett, followed by bright fruit (grapes). Meat-fruit-sugar.
T/M: Fizzy and fruity. Less smoke on the palette than tartness, but frankly that's rather welcome. A lot going on, but it's not a mess. It's a structured, big beer relying on the smoked malt as a backbone, but with most of the prominent flavors being fruit and sugar. Cranberry and white grape. Almost wine-like.
O: Very interesting and worth seeking out. Unlike anything I've ever had.

Poured into a renaissance glass. Thanks, Biggs!
A: Dark brown with a one finger tan head that lingered. Not much lacing.
S: Dark fruits, Brett, smokey malts.
T: Starts off with dates, figs and raisins. Then a malty smokiness with brown sugar follows with a Brett finish that smooths it out. So many flavors erupting, especially as it warms.
M: Medium to heavy with medium, chewy carbonation.
O: No wonder this one wins so many awards. A truly great array of tastes to be savored and shared. Damn good. Find it if you're in Memphis or Alabama.

This poured a dark, amberish brown with a thick, healthy head. It has strong aromas, including the oak and that yeasty smell. The flavor is tangy with a good malt bite. It's very effervescent. An interesting beer!

750 ml bottle poured into a chalice.
Pours a dark brown, kalamata olive color, with a think head that's a light tan. No lacing on this one.
Wild smelling yeast and malt, pleasantly floral sourness, anise - it's quite lovely. Taste wise, it is not as smoky as I expected it to be, but more tart and sour: sour cherries, dark chocolate up front. Then, a nice, round sweetness kicks in. If there's a "smoke" quality to it, its at the very end, with a dry hickory taste.
Not overly carbonated, but smooth and not too syrupy (which I was concerned about, given the sweet/sour element).
It's a "Limited," so I may need to get another one before it's gone.

Poured from 750 ml bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a slightly cloudy medium brown with some purple tones. Two finger dense tan head with nice retention but little to no lacing.
S: Slightly tart cherries, brown sugar, hints of smoke, and a little earthy funk.
T: Rich smokey malt backbone. Plenty of tart dark fruits. Brett funk.
M: Medium body and nice carbonation. Finish is a little sweet and dry.
O: Excellent beer. Completely different style than the norm. It's like a rich malty German beer mixed with a wild ale.

Clean beer. Fruit forward and faint funk from Brett. Very mild tartness. Not sure how true to style but a great sour. Overall, would drink another.
