Notes/Commercial Description:
Slick Nick Winter Ale is our most popular seasonal ale. The caramel and black malts we use to brew Slick Nick gives it the deep amber color. This insidious brew is best enjoyed during New England's freezing winter months. Slick Nick himself is pictured on our label casing out the Victoria Mansion in Portland Maine on a blustery night. Warm up with one of Maine's best winter offerings.

Dark amber-red. Light head which left lacing. Could not pick up on smells of this for the life of me, all I could smells is the straight malt.

Has a strong dark chocolate taste at the beginning, sweet caramel too in it...very nice start. It has a pretty bitter aftertaste though and the bitterness combined with the chocolate is kind of unappealing. Alcohol is evident, which is surprising since it's only 6.2%, it isn't overwhelming though. I'm not sure if that was on purpose.

This one didn't really do it for me. I did like that it didn't taste like a Christmas cookie, like nearly every other winter seasonal, but I probably won't try this again.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy brown color with a thin beige head. No lacing on the glass.

Smell: Heavy malts and citrus.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Rough medium bodied. Taste mostly of roasted malts and very bitter hops.

Overall: Not too bad, it will keep you warm on a cold night for sure.
