Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial IPA |  8.40% ABV

Availability: Spring

Notes/Commercial Description:
Big juicy American hops burst from this unfiltered deep amber ale. The caramel sweetness takes a backseat only to the abundance of citrusy, piney flavors and aromas. Dominated by Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Falconer's Flight hops, our double IPA has been dry-hopped for over a month.

I received this as part of a trade - thanks to my east coast connection who had been down in the states recently.

It pours a very attractive orange amber colour which is quite cloudy. The quarter inch head soon dissapated to a slight ring of foam.

The smell is surprisingly slight for an IIPA of this strength. Some sweeter citrus fruit and apricots are found within.

The taste is nice but there's something about it which stops it from being really really good. It starts off with hops, sweet fruit and then transitions into a slightly overbitter almost burnt taste. While it has good complexity there is something a little strange which is hard to describe. Alcohol is well hidden.

Mouthfeel is smooth, slightly sticky and low on carbonation. Drinkability is about average.

Rare cask serving from Three Crow Restaurants one year anniversary party.
Had Several of these from the cask , great smell and aroma, citrus and hops. Warm hazy appearance
taste very flavorful lots or resonance all the way through.
Got better even as it warmed more. Great offering,
I will need to compare to next bottle serving

Sebago Brewing Company - Full Throttle Double IPA, poured into a DFH Spiegelau IPA glass.

Look - Pours a hazy deep rich copper amber with a slight ruby hue and one hell of a foamy head that retains quite well. Exceptional lacing.

Smell - Deep dank citrus and bitter pine blended well with heavy caramel malts.

Taste - Sweet malts with a carbonated snap and a nice citrus overlay that eases into bitter pine. Advertisement states that the malts don't take center stage, but they do.

Mouthfeel - Oily and sticky for sure, malt bomb. Big and boozy warm. Medium to almost heavy body. Decent drinkability.

Overall - Malt bomb makes for a sad DIPA to most hop heads. This isn't bad, but it isn't really good either. Don't recommend if you are looking for that clean hop experience.
