I had this at a restaurant in Eastport on tap. Not much head, but had a nice red color and the smell was malty. Taste was mild sweet with no bitterness. There was no lingering aftertaste other than malt. A very drinkable beer. I recommended it to several people in our party and they all enjoyed it. I love red beers for some reason - this one is a keeper.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
A: Golden-orange color with great clarity. Cream colored head settles to a thin cap. Lacing forms jagged rings.
S: Malt forward and fruity nose. Caramel and lightly toasted grain are the main attraction. Cherry juice and sweet berries are well established too. Maybe a pinch of cocoa. Very faint grassy hops.
T: Wave of caramel at the outset. Hints of toasted grain and toffee, but the caramel taste holds the focus as it builds and develops. Very subtle nutty/cocoa flavor. Tame spicy hop character for balance. Sweet cherries and red berries. Hollow grainy finish.
M: Medium bodied. Full and slick with a chewy quality. Low carbonation. Smooth enough.
O: An easy beer to drink, if not just a little too ho-hum. It's a very safe red ale, but the pitfall of safe reds is that they tend to be bland and boring. Falls a little flat on the finish as well.

just a little on the generic side, this well made red is a fine offering, but isn't particularly engaging. it looks like a classic red, smells like one, and tastes pretty much like you would expect it to, with very little deviation from the style conventions. clear dark amber in color, with a fluffy white head looks enticing enough. smells like sweet red malt, lots of residual sugar, and more like lager yeast than ale yeast, sort of got that Vienna lager complexion in its taste as well. dry for all the sugar in the finish, definitely malt forward, although there is better hop balance than the nose gives away. very lively carbonation keeps this drinking light, but it cant hold my attention longer than a pint.
