Notes/Commercial Description:
Frye's Leap IPA is an intense experience. It is a hoppy medium-bodied ale and is full of character. From the caramel malt which gives our IPA its golden color to the distinct fruity hoppiness, this beer is every bit as exciting as its namesake, the popular cliffs on Sebago Lake. Enjoy this refreshing beer with seafood, spicy foods and all things grilled. Take the Leap!

I got this on tap at a local pub and had to go pick up a six pack the next day.

A-Nothing spectacular to behold. Looks like a pretty run-of-the-mill pale ale. Thin head lingers but not too long

S-Floral notes. Smells sweet and crisp. Yes, it smells like beer, but it smells like good beer.

T-Pretty much just how it smells. The hops come through, but they're well balanced and the alcohol taste is minimal.

M- A touch too carbonated, but otherwise quite smooth.

O-A very respectable IPA, especially for the price.

Pretty happy to see this around in bottles now at a good price. I always visit Portland in January and stay in the hotel right above the brewpub. We always get a pitcher of this and now I get to review this fresh bottle.

A- Golden bodied pour from the 12oz bottle to my pint glass with basically no haziness. A standard pour reveals a small white cap that peaks at about one finger tall. The foamy cap has fairly poor retention as it falls to a ring. This frothy ring leaves a few webs and large sheets of lace.

S- Pungent hoppyness in the aroma that I remember that is led by stone fruit notes with citrus big as well. Grapefruit, orange zest, apricot, pale caramel malts and some yeast fruitiness.

T- Basically mimics the aroma but the sweetness comes into play a bit more here for obvious reasons. Grapefruits and stone fruits from the hops with pine, floral, herbal and general fruitiness. Pale caramel malts lend a decent amount of sweetness and grain flavor but do not hurt what the hops are doing.

MF- Light overall consistency but a creamy texture lends a bit of chewiness. Carbonation level is moderately high but silky smooth. Finishes with a medium bitterness lingering on the palate.

Citrus and fruit forward hops lead the way in this IPA that has some maltiness and sweetness that does not totally throw off the crisp hops. Underated New England IPA IMO.

Thick foamy two finger head That sticks to the glass and is persistent. Grapefruit aroma with some oranges and a hint of pine, very clean. Hop forward citrus taste, some lemons, and pines, background of cracker malts. Medium carbonation as well as mouthfeel. Great ipa ill definitely drink it again.
