On-cask, served in an imperial pint

A slightly dull orange hue with a huge off-white cap. Head fell slowly and left huge sheets of lacing along the inside of the glass.

Fresh citra hop aroma. Tropical fruits aplenty with a clean malt backbone. Papaya, mango, pineapple, and white grapefruit in waves.

The flavor profile follows the nose. Fresh citra hops up front before a wave of clean malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a touch of tropical fruit sweetness.

Medium to full, thanks to the hand pump. Creamy and smooth.

I haven't had the regular Frye's Leap, but this is tasty. The citra hops are bright and bold.

I had this on cask at the downtown location and it was a nice cask. The citra gave it an edge that the ordinary version doesn't have. The ordinary version is hoppy, but less so than the typical American IPA today.Big cloudy orange glass.Fairly smooth mouthfeel.

On hand pump at the brewpub in Portland, basement of a Marriott. Pours orange gold with a medium fine head. Nose is super fresh citra, pine, orange candy. Fresh and exciting. Mouth is juicy, soft. Medium bittering throughout, pine, citrus, orange candy. Nose was more explosive than the mouth. This might have been a touch better if served on regular tap, but it was nice stuff, super fresh right now.

Had this the last week at the new location (not listed on BA yet). 16oz pour served in a pint glass

A: Bright orange hue at first, but as I continue to look it appears more copper. Looks like their IPA. Pour leaves a 2 finger fluffy white head that ever so slowly recedes but never disappears. Bunch of lacing about half way down the glass

S: Nose is mostly hops that are slightly restricted. Lots of grass with some citrus. Not really much malt coming out

T: Full of citra goodness. Good bitter/grass flavor along with a little citrus. Just enough bready malt flavor to help balance things a little

M: Smooth and creamy. Medium bodied. Brief hop bitter aftertaste

D: Super easy drinking. Definitely a change from their standard IPA, which I feel is a little heavy on the malt side. Hops are featured nicely in this cask version. Hope to see this again
