I was recently in the area so I decided to visit this place since it is literally right across the street from El Segundo Brewing. It's sort of a weird setup with a big open space where there are picnic tables and a bar area as well. I am not sure how things work when it rains since half of the area is open to the sky. Lots of random music memorabilia around the establishment. I sat at the bar and got a few samples which were very generous pours. The service was pretty good but it was busy so I wasn't expecting too much. They have a good selection that shows rotates through on TV screens. They also have a pretty solid bottle list with some harder to find beers and a few I had never even heard of. The one downside that matters is that prices are a bit high with lots of $9.00 pours on the menu. Overall, it's a pretty solid spot and I would come back again if I was in the area.

I will start off by saying that a place like this in Gundo is long overdue. Now, when residents don't feel like making the nine mile bike ride down to Naja's, they can simply walk over to this joint. It is a nice companion to Richmond's just a block away. Here, you get the fun outside vibe with several good beer options, while there you get the more quiet restaurant feel with a few beers to choose from. This place will only improve with time because of its super close proximity to the new brewery across the street and their ability to get first dibs on Rob's beers. They just starting holding events here in the past few months too. Oktoberfest was quite fun and their variety of beers for that was one of the best I've ever seen in California. My mom literally works next door to here and I stop by this place every time I am back home and have been since it opened. The beer list has improved each time I have gone and has gotten to be quite impressive. I have tried a new beer each of the past four times I have gone. You cannot beat the atmosphere in this joint. With the exception of the inevitable June gloom, El Segundo has one of the best climates of any place I have ever been to and luckily I got to live there for 25 years. This place takes complete advantage of that with their nice spread out patio, which reminds of a few different brewpubs I visited in Portland. Whether you go for dinner with the family, to watch an important game on the patio's huge TV, or to simply have a few good beers with friends, this is the place to go in town. I look forward to running into people from high school that I never wanted to see again here in the future. If there was any place that it would be tolerable, it will be here. The rock n' roll decor is a nice touch and a first for me mixed with craft beer. The place itself is very clean and modern. It has been renovated nicely since it was an old Italian restaurant called Anthony's which thankfully is gone after all those years. A glass of Speedway Stout on draft takes me back to the Liar's Club days and definitely trumps a stale meatball. There is a nice big parking area as well as lots of free street parking options, which is rare these days in LA county. The service here is outstanding. The staff is relatively young for a place like this, but that does not mean they are not knowledgeable. Brandon has done a great job mixing things up and finding some rare beers in the past few months. Their bartender Kyle has learned a ton about beer in such a short time and is about as hardworking as they get. He knows how to properly pour a beer which is extremely rare in these parts. Make sure you say hello to those two guys when you visit, they are great dudes. Like I said above the selection is great and especially compared to the other establishments around them. I have beers ranging from Cismontane, a new LA brewery, to industry favorites like Dogfish Head, and even obscure Italian beers. They serve their beers in the proper glassware at the proper temperatures. I have had several of their food options here and I must admit I am a sucker for their huge pretzel with tangy mustard. It goes perfectly with beer. Their pizzas are also good, along with the burger, and even their desserts. It is not just your run of the mill pub or beer bar menu, there was actually some time put into planning and it shows. The thing that makes me happiest about this place is that when I talk craft beer around people now in this neck of the woods, I am not always looked at like an alien. It seemed like three years ago, people could care less about anything I had to say about it and did not have the slightest clue when I did. I am glad LA is finally officially entering the craft beer world and mark my words, this establishment will have a lot to do with making that happen. It just figures all this happens once I move down to San Diego. Keep it up Rock and Brews!

Vibe: This place has a very large and airy feel. Half of the seating are is open to the sky and surrounded by walls while the other part feels like you are in a large barn or warehouse. There is a long bar running along the wall of the covered area. A photo booth and children's play area are also inside. There are lots of TVs.

Quality: Beers were served at the proper temperature using a variety of glassware including snifters for higher end beers.

Service: I was there with a group of five on a Saturday night and we didn't have to wait for a table, even though the place was crowded. Service wasn't that bad, but it seemed like our waitress could have come by more often.

Selection: The place had 50 beers on-tap, about half of which is a regular selection and printed on the menu. A list of rotating taps is displayed on TV monitors and on rockn.com

Food: I tried a Bacon Blue Cheese Burger, which was massive and rather tasty.

Looked for a place to kill some time near LAX between the end of my meeting and my flight home, found this place. Was told it had been open for 4 months. I kinda like the downtown El Segundo scene, it's really casual and understated.

Interesting layout for this place - mostly picnic tables under an open air tent. The night I went it was a bit chilly - wonder what they do in case the weather gets more cold???

Selection is good, but not great. Lots of flagship micro's but nothing too exciting.

Was just in the mood for a snack and got the garlic parmesan fries - they were just OK.

Young staff here - service was so-so.

If like me you are looking for somewhere to chill near LAX, this place (along with the highly retro Richmond on the next street) fits the bill.

I've been here a half-dozen times or so and I really like this place! Very interesting food menu with lots of great choices. I try and have something different each time and so far I have not been disappointed. The real reason I go, though, is the beer! The beer selection is excellent and always changing. I've been places with more tap handles, but they also have a pretty good bottle selection here (you can go to www.rockn.com to see their current beer selection). I really enjoy the atmosphere, too. They have sports and music videos playing on several TVs. The music is good and not so loud you can't have a conversation which is refreshing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, too. I've never had a problem finding parking (of course we go during the week or early on the weekends) which is also very nice (I wish I could say this about more beer places in L.A.).
