500 ml bottle into a snifter.

Pours a medium brown. A little hazy, with no head, a little clingy foam. Smells of malt, caramel, a little chocolate and peat. Very nice. Taste is strongly malt forward- no surprise, I guess. Also picking up the coriander, some fig, raisins and caramel. Getting a pleasant bitterness on the back end. Nice body, well carbonated and kind of a dry finish.

This is a really good beer and I would recommend it to all, but I was kind of expecting it to be better. I imagine that's more my problem, than the beer's.

MALT. This is malt.
The smell is straight, delicious malt.
Taste is concentrated malt. Almost like molasses. There is a very faint bright note, (likely the coriander and what little hops there are) buried beneath the malt. Caramel. Viscous. Wine like. Oak. Smooth.
The maltyness is a little one-noted, otherwise this would be 5 stars.
No fruityness. Very clean.
Mouthfeel is very rich but despite the overall heavy nature of the beer, manages to have a semi-crisp finish which allows you to keep drinking

Looks: very dark brown with red hints, light tan froth, overall surprisingly bland looking.
Smells: toasty, nutty, tobacco, pepper and plum
Tastes; A myriad of well balanced spicy tones, rich dried fruit, burned dark sugars, smooth chocolate, overripe plum.
Feels: rich, full bodied, oatmeal, discreet sparkling.
Overall: A tad on the sweet and heavy side, but without doubt one of the best ales I have ever tasted. reminiscent of a Rochefort.
