Been a long time since I've cracked a nitro-can open, but this is the last of a session four pack for the Super Bowl so I figured I'd post this here.

Poured into a mini pint glass which was a mistake since that wonderful cascading effect was completely lost in the tiny glass.

A: Still pours out a wonderfully thick ruddy black and topped with that familiar, latte tan head that lasts to the end.

S: Smell is a bit fruiter than I would have expected, not as heavy on the roasted malt aromas here with gentler malt aspects getting to shine through. A nice change of pace and adds some real depth to this beer.

T/MF: Taste is lightly roasted maltiness, maybe some latent roasted smokey astringency and I know this is just the mouthfeel talking but damn if this beer doesn't just taste the least bit like a lacto-stout as there is just a touch of creaminess in here as well.

D: A certainly easy sipper and with loads of depth on Guinness a clear winner between the two.

Serving type: nitro-can

Poured from a Nitro-can into a pint glass. A nougat coloured head over a deep, dark cola body. There is lots of action beneath the surface after the intial pour. Smells of roast, burnt toast and grain. The taste is mild, with coffee and chocolate undertones mixing with the burnt toast of the nose. The mouthfeel is creamy, but seems too thin and watery for a stout. Overall, it's not too bad, but there are better options out there.

14.9-oz nitro-can into porter/stout glass

A - beautifully cascading bubbles settle slowly into a finger of creamy cream-colored head over a deep body with black appearance, red/orange highlights when back-lit; beautiful

S - slight malty smell, not much to it

T - roasted notes, slight coffee flavor, maybe a touch of chocolate; malty and biscuity

M - light for a stout, but creamy and smoother than smooth; low carbonation

O - It looks amazing and the smooth feel is impressive. Otherwise this one's fairly unimpressive. Not bad, but not impressive.
