Murphy’s is an internationally recognized Irish stout, brewed since 1856 in the iconic Lady’s Well Brewery, Cork.

Classified as an Irish Dry Stout, Murphy’s is dark in color and medium-bodied. It is silky smooth with toffee & coffee undertones, almost no bitterness, and a irresistible creamy finish.

The pour into my brand new Murphy's glass (I had to buy a case of stout to go with it!) does the usual nitro cascade effect, which never fails to impress. When it's over, it forms a sturdy one finger-plus head, the color of Irish cream, and a lot lighter than the tan on the beer's can. A fair amount of ruby makes it through the glass when backlit, and even shows up a bit when viewed normally. The lacing is fairly sticky, but less than on some Irish stouts I've seen.

The nose is lightly toasted chocolate and coffee, with the usual Irish stout acid odor. Fairly mellow, as expected.

Taste is richer and sweeter than the benchmark Guinness, with less acidity. There's a bit of a bitter taste in the middle, which slowly ends with a milk chocolate sensation. As I drink more to pick up more subtlety, I get more sweetness and chocolate toward the beginning. Tastes wonderful.

The mouth is light and simple, with perfect smoothness. Again, simple wins here. A fine beer that I'm happy to review again with some more experience. One of my favorite Irish stouts.

Nearly black, light tan head.
Not a lot to smell. Slightly sweet flavor. Dark Chocolate, coffee are dominant. If s very smooth with very little bitterness.
At 4% abv these are quite light. Very drinkable.

Sweeter and less bitter than Guinness. But i prefer Ohara's still.

14.9 oz (440 ml) can chilled for at least 2 hours in fridge then poured into an imperial pint glass. at first glance jet black but held up to light some ruby highlights. slight aroma of barley, grains, grass but still smells like beer. Nice off white head of foam and lacing. taste was slightly sweet but not cloying. no idea of the ibus but probably very low. low abv makes for good sessions. feel is creamy and smooth. very rich as well. overall not a bad stout. i prefer this to guinness tbh. although an irish beer from dublin's sister city cork, mine says brewed and canned in edinburgh, scotland under the supervision of cork, etc. not that i really mind. lol. on a side note if you like murphy's you will probably like belhaven scottish stout. just my 2 cents.

My go to pint a home. Similar to Guinness Draught but with a more rich and robust flavor. Fantastic beer that you could easily drink a few without it feeling too rich or heavy.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Poured from a nitro can. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a three finger nitro style, khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Looks nice. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, light coffee and hints of lactose. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with slight char, drip coffee, cocoa and mild lactose. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess due to the nitro can pour, which worked quite well. I was surprised to see I had never reviewed this as I've had it many times in the past. Perhaps being a big conglomerate brew it forgot about it. Glad I decided to tick this, it's quite pleasant. The flavor is rather attenuated, but strong enough for a 4% beer, and the flavor profile is quite nice. There's light char and good coffee and cocoa character. Although the flavor is a bit thin, what's there is fine and the nitro-like pour gives it a pleasant body that makes it feel and taste good. I'd get this again.

Very similar to Guinness, a bit more flavor going on. Definitely a big milk chocolate character, kinda reminds me of a thin milkshake if I'm being honest. Slightly roasty, mild coffee note. Like with Guinness, this beer is best drank quickly before the head dissipates, and it is very crushable, but I like to savor my beer a little more. I'll still stick with Guinness Extra/Foreign Extra for my Irish Stout needs, but the nitro novelty is nice every now and then.

Black with a very dense khaki head, cascading nitro from the widget, excellent retention, thick bands of lace all the way down
Aromas of espresso and extra dark chocolate, earthy, a bit of dark fruit
Espresso roast coffee brewed as a regular cup, earthy, slightly ashy, smidge of dark fruit, dry
Medium-light body, creamy nitro "carbonation"
This is so much better than a nitro can of Guinness. Maybe one of these days I'll stumble on some Beamish and be able to say definitively what's the best Irish Nitro stout.

Porurs dark brown/black with 1.5 finger creamy white head which has excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malted barley and a slight hint of chocolate. Taste pretty much follows the nose and is a very pleasent beer to drink, nice and sweet malt character to it. If you can sample it on draught in Ireland (particularly in Cork), you'll enjoy it most.
