750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Very hazy pale yellow body. Medium white head. Medium collar.

Smell - Kinda yeasty. Lemon and lime dominate after that, though. A bit of grain.

Taste - Lightly tart. A bit of yeastiness gives it some depth. Lemon up front. Lime builds into it and eventually takes over.

Mouthfeel - Light body. Well carbonated.

Overall - It's decent, but it's got buckets of lemon and lime that overwhelm everything else.

A-Cloudy bright yellow, some carbonation, one finger head with some lacing.

S-Wheat and grass. Less tartness than the orange & grapefruit, but a good deal of lemon and great lime flavors.

T-Mild tartness, good deal of lemon and then ends with lime.

M-Lighter, dry finish, semi crisp.

O-The lime makes the beer. Limes need to be used in making more beers.

L - Pours a golden yellow. A very small head formed and quickly fell back into the glass. What remains are only a few bubbles clinging to the round of the glass.

S - Scent of an ever so slight funk. A bit of lemon. A bit of lime. All of which are very subtle.

T - Mostly all lemon and lime. A little bit of farmhouse funk. Funk came first with the lemon and lime smacking your taste buds to follow.

F - Carbonation is light. Feel is as it should be.

O - Overall this is the third Provenance variant I have tried. My favorite of the set, but would like to retry them all side by side. A very nice representation from Jester King. Worth the try for sure.

Batch 2; Bottled 4/23/14

A refreshingly light summer thirst quencher I'm drinking in the cold. The lemon and lime flavors dominate a fairly light saison base beer. The base beer carries some interesting fruity esters and black pepper, just enough to carry the fresh, tart lemon and lime citrus flavors. The tartness is mild. Very crushable and approachable. On the whole a very good beer.

Oak, citrus, lots of lime. Solid with nice flavors, just a bit mild.

Pours a hazy, very pale straw color with thin white head.

The nose is interesting, with the oils from the citrus zest shining through.

The taste is lemon and lime oil, followed by a wheaty tartness, and finishing with residual citrus flavors. The citrus is overwhelming when the beer is cold, but balances out slightly as the beer warms.

Mouthfeel is solid.

Overall, this is a solid beer. I feel it could make the jump to the next level by balancing out the citrus a bit more with the base saison flavors. Would prefer more of the citrus juice flavor as opposed to the citrus oil, which sadly reminds me a bit of a cleaning product.

Served on tap in a Jester King Wine Glass at the brewery on the weekend of release, reviewed from (month-old) notes.

Appearance: Hazy gold, with a white crown and some spotty lacing. No head to speak of.

Smell: A surprisingly dank quality comes out, probably from the citrus rinds of the lemons and limes. The citrus has a bitter and oily quality to the smell as well. Some of the signature Jester King funk too.

Taste: Lots of citrus, it is clear the zest of the lemons and limes play a bigger role in the flavor profile than the juice of the citrus. A slight tartness and a good deal of brett-forward funk too. The dank notes in the smell play a small role here as well. The light cracker malt that makes such a strong showing in most Jester King beers is of course present in this one.

Mouthfeel: Quite dry, effervescent, with the saltine flavors of the malt lingering.

Overall: Beautiful stuff, as always. Kudos on another strong showing.

The positives: Very nice to look at, hazy and yellow.
The negatives: Smells like lemon Pledge or Dawn detergent. Tastes similar. Forced down my couple ounces and that was enough. Do not recommend.

Nice balanced citrusy blend. Better than O&G version. Nice lingering tart finish.
