Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Batch #1, 08-26-2014.
Real nice forming off white, and very creamy controlled head. Head grows real nice three to two fingers with a soft topped and shaving cream appearance. Body color is opaque, a bit solid, and a nice light peach orange and yellow. Very nice, a little solid, but still impressive.
Big fruit like aromas and esters coming off of this. Cantaloupe, and melon rind quite a bit, with some soft wheat like chew senses. Soft herbal notes of chamomile senses and thyme, almost floral a bit. THere is a lot going on here through a big fruity juicy bouquet, like a trip through a blooming garden.
Fascinating palate. Juiced front but a little bit light on the body. Fruits wash over and the herbality and spicy yeast seem to kick in. Slightly wet but good coating malt forward depth and body. Toned down pepper notes, with some melon like wetness that takes away from the body a little bit. Not getting much strawberry notes out of this.
A real interesting and decent brew, slightly needing a bit more depth to really push this into some stratosphere territory..

Hinting toward cooler, more somber and festive weather, the Jester King brewers bring the summer Belgan seasonal beer from summer and into fall with a beer of rustic nature and a spicy cinnamon personality.
Dichotomous pour with a densely hazed burnt orange gaze. After causing excessive cleanup of the counter, the beer's arid and rocky head expels a host of earth, pepper, wood and citrus to form an earthy perfume. A taste of dry biscuit, winter honey and bread crust leaves the early palate brisk and mildly savory.
Its middle palate is bright with dried rustic citrus, while its sweetness trail into a nutty, woodsy memory. Lemon, lime, green apple and green grape suggests a mulled cider and spiced wine demeanor as the cinnamon finally comes out to play. Peppery, vinous and tart, the beer's lasting impressions are of cedar, oak and marzipan.
Medium-bodied and trending light as the beer falls into finish, the peppery, effervescent and citrus peel flavors suggest a lighter texture than what is actual. Its curious cinnamon additions add spiciness but never scream attention either. There's a lot to learn from this beer's spice handling.
