Poured from 750ml bottle. Thanks to johnsaulrubio for this bottle. Very excited about trying this one.

A- Pours a light hazed orange color with amber hues to it. Three finger white head shows great retention. Thick sticky lace in sheets left on the glass as I drink this one down.

S- Citrus hops with caramel malts in the front of the beer blend together very well. Piney hops do show up a little in the next part of the nose. Rye comes through more so in the ending than anywhere else in the aroma. Alcohol shows a little in the final whiff but doesn't stand out at all.

T- Surprised that the first thing I tasted was caramel malts which came through in the underbody of the beer. Citrus hops come through with mango and light grapefruit. Caramel malts does come back again in the middle with a light rye tone. Ending of the beer is a nice big rye flavor that overtakes the light pine hop ending. Alcohol does come through in the ending but doesn't bother the other flavors going on.

M- Medium light mouthfeel. Carbonation was good for the beer. Caramel malts, citrus hops, and light rye are left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly light alcohol, big rye notes, hints of caramel malts, and light pine hops. Flavors for the beer are very in line with one another for the style I thought. No off flavors are present in this beer. Light to medium alcohol drying on the palate with each sip.

O- I really thought this beer was worth seeking out. The rye really shows up in the ending making this beer come full circle. The ABV is not really noticed at all which makes this a great drinker. A brewery that is getting all the praise it deserves. Good job Jester King and don't give up the good fight for great tasting craft beer!

Pours a hazy orange with hints of red. Thick foamy white head. The smell is the strongest part. Farmhouse funk. Citrus. Grass. Hops. Yeast. Grass. The taste follows suit. Spicy citrus hops and rye bitterness. Grassy, yeasty hoppy goodness. Labeled as a farmhouse ipa and it fits this description perfectly. The combination of hops and farmhouse flavors compliment nicely.

As usual, JK knocks it out of the park yet again. A very solid hybrid that is reasonably priced.

Review from old notes - non-farmhouse version. 750 mL pours a hazed copper color with a massive cap of light tan head. Retention and lacing both impressive, though I suspect the beer is a bit overcarbonated.

Alot of various hop aromas going on here - citrusy lemons, grapefruit and pine sap. Bready rye is detectable along with some caramel and light alcohol. Main show is the hops, as it should be..

Quite tasty...big and bright hops start things off flowery and citric. Malts are light and biscuity, staying in the background for the most part. Yeast leans bready but the beer is much cleaner than the farmhouse version. Bittering hops on the back end are nice and crisp. Mouthfeel is a touch on the thin side, but thats a minor complaint. Need this in 6-packs please...too good not to gulp. It is a bit overcarbonated and gets pretty dry after awhile. Could use some minor tweaking but shows some promise.

From my tasting notes: I had the Wytchmaker in a 750 ml bottle that was a bit over carbonated, but was still in excellent condition. It poured a golden amber with a healthy head that persisted for the entire tasting. This rye IPA had a creamy mouthfeel with good hop bitterness balanced by the rye malts. This bottle was with their older English ale yeast, so it will be interesting to try it with their newer farmhouse yeast to see the differences. Again this is a great IPA.
