A- Half-finger head, thin and airy. Dark brown almost black in color. Lace remains about the glass. Steady carbonation is evident.
S- Sourness, funk, peaches, dark chocolate.
T- Still funky with a tart fruit flavor, some dark malt and hints of grapefruit peel
M- Sour but still has a thick malt body. Sort of creamy, but also very acidic.
Overall, not bad but too heavy on the sour without enough of a malt profile or flavor.

jester king can do no wrong. all of their beer is fantastic, and when its on tap, i am learning, its even better! a very dark but also rather thin looking brew, small mocha colored head, but not a lot of visible carbonation activity here. a nose of earthy dark malt a step short of the bitter barley roast, somewhere more robust than chocolate malt, but not quite stout level flavors. love a dark malt first sour, and this doesn't disappoint me at all. a nice lactic acidity on the nose tells me this is going to be quite the pucker. the taste is great, if a bit familiar. it reminds me a bit of terra incognito from boulevard and sierra nevada, minus the whiskey barrel sweetness. this is dry as heck, almost lemon rind flavor acidity to the finish too, among the soil and mineral flavors form the malt. boldly flavored, but mellow in feel. there is a delicate aspect to it, not heavy on bubbles or body, it just sort of floats on the palate. insanely light for its color and complexity of flavors. a nice take on the dark wild ale, on par with the best out there. acidity that isn't gripping as it goes down makes this rather sessionable as well. it would play nice with food too, if i can get my hands on a bottle maybe i will do something special with a pork loin, its that kind of brew where it would cut fat but support richness. fantastic.

Blend #2, Bottled Oct. 9, 2013
A - Pours a hazy, murky brown with a light khaki head.
S - Sour cherries, acidic, oak and a little sugar on the backend.
T - Sour cherries at first that grip you and then the base of dark malty ale comes through with a bit of the oak bourbon barrel.
M - Medium bodied and high carbonation. Has a good amount of acidity to it with a dry finish.
O - Delicious beer that hits all the right notes.
