Reviewing a year old aged bottle
Pours a half inch dark chocolate head, body is pitch black in color. Head retention and lacing were above average.
Smell is of sweet port wine, chocolate, and roasted coffee beans. Smell of alcohol is slightly present and malt is abit smoky. Hops arent apparent at all.
Taste is of sweet chocolate syrup, slight soy sauce too. Burnt malts and roasted espresso mixed with some port wine balance the beer out. Hops arent present and alcohol cuts some of the sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied but is lighter than it looks. Head dissipated rather quickly unfortunately, beer was well carbonated.
Overall this beer was a good imperial stout. Nothing in the top ten of its style but a solid brew nonetheless. Would drink again if available to me.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled in 3/2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger fairly dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, smoke, light char, pepper, raisin, fig, light licorice, and roast/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of big dark/roasted malt and moderate fruity/spicy yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, smoke, light char, pepper, raisin, fig, light licorice, and roast/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of roasted bitterness and earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, toast, dark bread, smoke, light char, pepper, raisin, fig, and roast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity of big dark/roasted malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian imperial stout. All around great complexity and robustness of big dark/roasted malt and moderate fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
