Jester King Farmhouse Black Metal

A- pour produces a massive 3 finger dark mocha colored head resting on a black body. Head recedes to 1/2 finger and stays around. 4

S- dark chocolte, cocoa powder, espresso, some slightly funky yeast, light hop presence. 3.5

T- a little better than the nose. The balance of the farmhouse yeast to the stronger imperial stout flavors is done quite well. Chocolate, some espresso, light hop presence, cream, slightly smokey, and farmhouse yeast. 3.5

N- slightly light in the body for such a beer. The carbonation is good. 3.5

O- this one must be allowed to warm up. A good sipper that is quite enjoyable but nothing exceptional. 4

On tap at the Whip In in Austin.

The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a small tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malt, with a little bit of leather and a few assorted spices mixed in.

The flavor is similar. The chocolate and roasted malt notes are very strong and dominate the initial flavor. As the beer warms up a bit, I start to get a little bit of Belgian yeast and a little bit of brett mixed in to the flavor. There is also a little bit of anise and pepper mixed in.

Thick mouthfeel and low carbonation.

Bottle (2012)

Thanks for opening this with me, Nathan!

Black throughout with a moderately sized dark brown head that eventually leaves the glass oily and spotted with lace.

Lots of roast and chocolate elements in the aroma, along with a hint of smoke. I don't pick up any particularly "farmhouse-like" elements.

The flavor too is bold and flavorful: roast, dark and bittersweet chocolate, and a bit of smoke.

Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly chewy.

I like this quite a bit.

Large shared bottle.
There's a lot going on in this big beer. The sweet coffee, dark bread, and chocolate aroma leads to a very different and even more complex flavor. Moderately tart and, I think, even more bitter. I did much prefer the aroma to the flavor.

A: Pours Blacker then the blackest black times infinity. A dryed blood color finger of head.

S: smells of BLACK Coffee and Rotting Farmhouse yeast! and some boozyness...

T: hell fire roasted Cocoa, slight festering malts and yeast and vanilla bean tears ov dying angels

M: thick as blood with a generous amount ov carbonation

This brew was defiantly spawned from the darkest pits ov hell to pay homage to Black Metal and SATAN! \m/
