A clear and simple expression of the delicate interplay between noble hops and farmhouse yeast. Throughout Northern Europe, light-bodied, well-hopped, low alcohol table beers were often the beverage of choice with all meals at times and in places where the water wasn’t always safe to drink.

Canned on 03/09/23, consumed on 12/26/23. Grisette, style beer, I have never had this beer style before, but I guess it is similar to a farmhouse.

A&S: Interesting look. Pours around two fingers of fluffy white head that leaves plenty of lacing. The beer is hay-yellow and translucent. The aroma is faint until it fully warms up and contains grassy, lemon, and funky tones.

T&M: Lots of flavor for a low-ABV beer. More bitter than I expected from the aroma. lemon with slight tart tones. Spice in the finish. Very very carbonated, crisp, and clean. Dry.

Overall: I liked it, I got an insane deal on this can, but depending on the cost I would get it again.

Poured from a 16 oz can.

L - Extremely pale straw color, almost just a faded yellow/green; milky/hazy appearance. Incredibly fluffy, rocky head with large bubbles that formed several inches tall on the initial pour and did not break down much until I started sipping.

S - Clean, fresh aromas of light grain, black pepper and faint horseblanket.

T - Flavors reflect cracked grain from the malt, grassy, spicy notes from hops, and ever-so-slight tartness with some faint funkiness. The impression is very crisp and clean.

F - Very thin body with a dry finish. Light carbonation. Low to medium hops bitterness level. No alcohol presence.

O - This beer is a great exercise in restraint and subtlety. There are some of the elements of a saison, but all with a supremely light touch. It reminded me of a Gose, but it wasn't tart enough and there was no touch of salt. In the end it left me wanting more flavor and aroma, but I appreciate the brewer's skills in creating such a subtle beer.

Faint gold body, misty, with a frothy white head that holds for a minute.
On the nose, lemon, hay, grapefruit, white grape.
The taste is very much a mirror of the scent, lightly zesty lemon, soda crackers, acidic and lactic tang; light and fine carbonation, a refreshing feel; turns to some slightly pithy bitterness in the finish.

It is, as meant to be, a simple and refreshing beer, though missing some balance.

16oz can purchased off the shelf as a 4-pack for $15.99 plus tax. Canned on 03/08/23, so this is almost 5 months old.

Look: Pours a pale straw color with a soft haze. Looks super carbonated with a thick, rocky meringue-like head that ultimately crumbled to leave behind lots of pretty lacing.

Smell: Mixture of spice and barnyard funk, along with Noble hop character. Notes of lemony clove and grassy, earthy rustic background. There are indications of some acidity as well. It smells like a nice table beer, and considering that it's a 2.9% ABV beer, it's bringing a lot to the table on the nose so far.

Taste: It's super tasty and extremely easy to drink. At the same time, it does not taste like a 2.9% ABV beer as it is really flavorful. More of the lemony clove from the nose along with a bit of ginger and woody character. The finish is very dry and mildly bitter, yet the bitterness lingers on the palate for a long time with a lot of earthy Noble hop character. The beer has a mild acidity that really works for this style and interpretation.

Feel: The mouthfeel is really lovely. It's light but also substantial for its weight class; the beer is highly carbonated and it has a very soft feel on the palate, probably because the carbonation is so fine/with such small bubbles.

Overall: This is my third Jester King beer. These guys certainly know how to brew tasty low ABV farmhouse ales! This reminds me a bit of Wild East - Lucidity. This is really nice. It's an awesome beer to have at the table or just to quench your thirst. And at 2.9% ABV, it will have a minimal effect on your cognitive ability so drink up!

Packaged on April 26th, 2023 - enjoyed on July 23rd, 2023. Poured from a pint can into my Unibroue tulip.

Lightly cloudy pale straw liquid with a lasting fat fist of crenellated ivory. Thick ropy lacing; superior retention.

Lovely yeast driven aromatics suffused with peppery phenolics and hints of funk, lemon-zest, and alfalfa. Slightly floral.

Dry, almost metallic, grainy palate entry with malted wheat and pale malt character shining through. Clean/woodsy hop bitterness throughout (at times grassy/spicy as well), more perceptible and lasting than the modest IBU would suggest. Finishes dry, rustic, yet refreshing. Yeast flavor is unique but gets out of the way quickly - no real "wild" notes (not that I'd expect them per the style). Hints of quinine, corn silk and pencil shavings as the ale warms.

Pillow-like, soft, medium-light body with plenty of carbonation. Crisp, and lightly astringent.

A very tasty, thirst-quenching table beer that allows the quality ingredients to shine through.

Pours very pale yellow, slight turbidity. Huge white head that lasts, eventually lands at about a quarter inch.

Definite funk on the nose, not overwhelming but noticeable because the backdrop is fairly weak. A little crackery malt, the hops seem quite floral and grassy. There's lemon as well, and a vague Juicy Fruit kind of fruit smell.

The taste pretty well follows. It's basically a weak saison in terms of flavor. Grassy, funky, earthy, lemon citrus, that vague fruit note, a very weak sour note, earthy, lingering bitter and building pepper.

The feel - well, it's thin and watery but it's supposed to be. Oddly, it isn't all that refreshing. Dry, bitterness lingering.

Overall, I think it's well made and it represents what they wanted to achieve. It matches conceptually with what I've read of some historical Farmhouse beers. I get the idea, it's executed nicely.

16oz can into a tall glass. Canned 3/8/23, so closing in on 4 months old.

Pale dull hazy watery yellow body with a big soapy white head leaving layers of lacing. Musty, funky aroma. Taste is dry, bitter, sour, and a little soapy. Finish a dry bitterness. A lot of body and taste packed into a 2.9abv beer, but the overall effect doesn't do it for me.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed straw color with a puffy head of white foam. The head has a great level of retention, fading over time and leaving streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a cracker malt aroma mixed with floral and herbal smells as well as a good showing of hay and smoke. Along with these smells comes notes of a light harvest fruit aroma and a decently strong yeasty smell. Rounding it all out is a touch of funk and a bit of bacon.
Taste – The taste begins with a light crisp cracker malt flavor paired with notes of yeast and some smoke and hay. As the taste advances flavors of herbal and floral hop join in, all while the smoke fades a bit. Some grass and funkiness develop more toward the end, all while the body thins out even more. A light grass and pepper spice come at the very end, and with a hint of lemongrass, one is left with a crisp and moderately dusty (in a good way) taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is very light and thin with a carbonation level that is high. For the style and the flavors the feel is great and makes for a super easy sipper.
Overall – A very easy drinking and flavorful farmhouse that makes a fantastic session sipper at only 2.9 % abv. Well done.

January 2019 vintage. Poured into an Ommegang cervoise.

A: Hazy golden with 2-finger white frothy head with good retention and sticky lacing in bands down the glass.

S: Funky sweaty sock/shoe aroma, slightly leathery with grapefruit and lemon-lime.

T: Plenty of funk in the flavor with highly yeast driven elements of bubblegum, leather, lemon, white grapefruit, and earthy hops in the finish.

M: Very light and spritzy with light body and highly drinkable.

O: Enjoyable but not really my cup of tea due to the funky yeast aromas and flavors.
